Description
This shot took a hell of a lot of work to save but I think it was worth it. Poor, diminishing light and intrusive mesh fencing almost beat me!Siberian tigers, mother and cub.
Note: A heartfelt THANK YOU! to everyone who has added this piece to their favorites. I'm overwhelmed by all the feedback and wish I could personally thank each and every one of you!

Siberian tigers are my favorite! I only have a malayan to photograph (although still a very beautiful animal). I'm curious to know how you saved this from lighting, and especially the fence, as I have many photos with that problem. I will be standing at the exhibit, knowing it's going to ruin shots, but still take a lot anyway

I've not seen much evidence of that problem in your photography, you have some lovely shots! I had two problems with this photo, it was terribly under exposed and riddled with whites from the mesh fence. I had to carefully dodge and burn the fencing so it mostly blended in with the tigers. With the rest of the picture I sharpened, added a slight gaussian blur, masked out the tigers, adjusted the temprature, levels, colour balance and hue/saturation bit by bit. Took about an hour before I was happy enough to submit it. Even then I never expected anything like the amount of attention it's recieved!!

Wow, that's a lot of work. I have to admit that most of the time I dont have the patience to sit and really try to recover a photo like that. Maybe I should though! You did very good with it, I think all that work payed off pretty well
