Ruuna silently and seriously eyed the lightning that twitched across his body and his bright yellow eyes, whose gaze seemingly pierced her armor, searching for a weak spot in her flesh. She unconsciously raised a wing as if she could form a shield. Kargesh did not miss it and he acknowledged it with a cocky smile. Kargesh and Ruuna could not stand each other. That had always been obvious, but now that they faced each other in open hostility, all polite restraint had passed.

"What now, old lady? After all, since we've become such good friends on our journey, let's see which one of us can make better use of his 'gift'."

"Don't pretend you want to play fair!" growled Ruuna in reply, and Kargesh's eyes flashed something that might be wounded pride.

"I always play fair...circumstances permitting. Don't think I couldn't have murdered you in the back anytime I wanted to.
