Just a quick picture.
The book "How I won the war" is absolutely great. I have read it at elementary school for the first time, and returned to it not so long ago.
Private Clapper form Goodbody's platoon is always concerned about his wife, who cheats on him ("unwillingly", as Clapper always stresses) back in England. Lieutenant Goodbody always finds a great solution: when Mrs Clapper "couples" with an insurance man, Goodbody cancelles the insurance. When Mrs Clapper goes with a butcher, he makes her enter a vegetarian club; when Mrs Clapper goes with an American soldier, who comes every saturday afternoon with a laundry service, he makes her find a part time job at that time and so on...
