Going to wear orange totally.
It won't help but mise well do it anyway. I cut and I did it on my legs. No matter what I do I can't get rid of the scars and I will never be able to wear a bikini swimsuit again.

I've never cut, but I've always thought about doing it. Wondering if it might help with the emotional stuff I was going through (and still going through). For a while, I guess I was like a kid who wanted to die, but was too cowardly to do it herself. I found my therapy. Pretty common and everyone can do it; music. That helped me a lot. But I guess some people just can't exactly find that easy of a solution. If someone wants to chat, the can always send me a message

Oh no, cutting does NOT help emotional issues at all-it makes it worse. I'm 21 years old, and I started cutting when I was only in 7th grade. In a year or two, it'll have been a decade. No one was there to lend me a helping hand, to listen to me, or to even care, and I'm not gonna let other people suffer as I did...
Keep doing your music, music is wonderful therapy Keep to it, and always keep your chin up

Aw *huggles* You're welcome to talk to me about it
I have a lot of experience with it all, and a lot of my friends here are people I've found that needed someone and I stepped in and helped out, and in return they've helped me out as well, so now we're all a bunch of friends and it's great :3

Hehe, you seem nice! Lucky friends to have! It used to effect me a lot when I was younger, but I guess it doesn't bother me so much now, just a lot of disappointment. I'm glad I never went down that road though. Thanks for the offer!

Hehehe, its okay. I guess this photo sort of brings us all together. At least we all have something in common; the glory of the internet

Yeah ^^ Depending on the music it can make you feel happy, sad, inspired, or reminiscent (such as the song on my radio right now - "I Go Back").
yep ^^

I find pictures of people's fresh cuts triggering, but I don't find this triggering. Everyone has different triggers. Awareness day can help people to know what those are and help those who struggle with them.

I really just mean you should probably put a filter on this.
You don't find it triggering, but others might.

Even if there is an awareness day it still won't help those who hide it. :/ Still, nobody would know they're hurting, still they will be sad behind locked doors, because an awareness day will not give you the power to see the scars.

Awareness day will help the people who hide it, because it will give the people who don't self harm more information and hopefully self harm can have less of a stigma around it, relieving a lot of stress for those who do.

This photo seems to have sparked some very angry comments by people*scans* but It's a powerful and moving piece none the less
It's very true that it's not always obvious, and I like how you got that across by showing 'cuts' on the less well known-by many people- places.
The background is almost too similar to the clothing and it's on the verge of disapearing into it, but it does make the 'cuts' stand out more so I can see how it works.

Yeah, I haven't really had time to read a whole lot of the comments people are posting that aren't directly to me, trying to keep up with those is hard enough.

At my school they had a "tunnel of oppression" and one of the rooms was dedicated to self harm. It was really eye opening, especially for those who don't understand and I'm glad they did it.

I used to cut myself, specifically on my wrists, and I would always wear long sleeves to hide the marks left behind. I haven't done it for 4 months now :-]
-I'm definitely going to wear orange

I used to cut myself, but never anywhere people can see. Mostly where creases of the body usually were because the scars are less noticeable. I kind of regret it and always ask myself what was I thinking, and that there are other not so hurtful ways. We live and learn. I am 4 years clean today actually. :-D

Is it bad that this reminds me of the Silence from Doctor Who, and how whenever the Doctor, Amy, Rory, River, etc. would see them, they would put a tally on their skin?
Great concept

Okay, so everything has an awareness day. Which sort of cheapens any given cause. Every day is "Blank" awareness day. I'm not trying to cheapen this cause, frankly I think Youth Sports Coaches, Teachers and Parents of Teenage Children should be very aware and look for signs that it could be happening to one of their children, students, players, et cetera. It's just kind of a weird trend that has made people wax over the whole occasion.

Normally I'm like, blah awareness days, but I'm supporting this because as someone who self harms the lack of awareness is astounding.

I agree completely. I was merely commenting on the social norm of shrugging off 'blank awareness day' because it seems like every day of the month is Stubbed Pinky Toe Awareness Day or Hangnail Awareness 'Week'.

Thank you for help spreading awareness for things like this, for exactly what is stated above "Self harm is not always obvious", I've been getting over a tough period in my life at the moment. I cannot express how happy I am that people like you are spreading awareness.

I'm really glad you made this. Because so many people think that 'cutters' are "emo" people, who wear black, and you can see it on their arms. BUT THAT'S NOT ALWAYS TRUE. It could be anyone--the football captain, the brainiac in math class, the popular girl that's had tons of boyfriends....and people don't always show it. It's not always on their arms or in obvious places. This is beautiful photography and it exemplifies the deeper meaning. Thank you so much.
(and yes, being obvious doesn't mean it's any less legitimate).

I'm really happy people are aware of self harm more these days. I used to be suicidal and crazy but nobody noticed. Not even my parents because I cut in very hidden places (my scalp, behind my ear, ankles etc.) for about 4 years. It's really nice to have people care more these days.

Lol this causes more problems than actually bringing awareness to anyone. mildly entertaining silly trolls.
My opinion on the picture? meh. It seems people just find a reason to post un-creative things about awareness days no one has ever heard of.

Not to be rude but the only troll here is yourself. I have to disagree with you on some rather silly things that you've stated.
"Lol this causes more problems than actually bringing awareness to anyone."
First of all I really don't see how this would "cause more problems." This will help people realize that people who cut themselves don't just cut themselves in typical places such as the wrists. It could be anywhere and you wouldn't be aware of it at all. From seeing this, some will be encouraged to help their friends who might be depressed and indicate signs of cutting from not just the wrists.
"It seems people just find a reason to post un-creative things about awareness days no one has ever heard of."
I just can't see how much more bitter and cold-hearted you could be. First of all: (This is highly opinion-based and I dare not go against your valid opinion but) This picture gets the photographer's message across so strongly in such a powerful and easily understandable way. Maybe it's just you who hasn't heard of this awareness day. Have you ever thought that through? I won't lie; I've never heard of this awareness day myself but I'm still in my young teen years and so I'm still rather ignorant of the awareness days.

I disagree with your comment about how this picture is "un-creative" ....a lot of photography is just a picture of a model in studio lighting wearing trendy clothes....this has an actual concept behind it and it's well executed ...not to mention it gets the message across quite nicely!
And the point of posting pictures about awareness days that no one has ever heard of is to spread awareness...
