His lips are chapped from eating roasted humans. Was I the only one who was bugged out by large teddy bears trying to roast the Rebels alive over their fires?

Or the only one wondering, "What happened to the stormtrooper heads that once occupied the helmets that the ewoks are now using as drums?"
That's why I've never really minded the ewoks. When you look beyond the initial cuteness (and blatant marketing), they are actually kind of messed up.

They remind me of the human hobbits from our real world found in Indonesia. I heard someone suggest that aside from hunting larger mammals, there may have been indications they hunted larger humans.

That would have been funny if Tolkien wrote in a similar back-story for the hobbits of The Shire. After they got all of that cannibalism out of their system, they settled down into farming and smoking.
