Description

Wall.e and E.v.e. flew back into the Axiom still feeling giddy with romance after dancing in space. As they re-entered, they cycled the airlock, leaving a repair bot stuck on the outside of the Axiom. They just made out the utterance of [Oh Crap! I've gotta find another door!] inside. This brought them back down to earth, and E.v.e. told Wall.e, "Directive! Plant! Earth!" Wall.e nodded, understanding the message. They began sneaking in the general direction of the Axiom's bridge. Eventually, they would up on the now closed Lido Deck, hiding inside a configuration of towel carts. A pair of SECUR-T bots were on duty, their holo-projectors still displaying the "Rogue Robots" warning. They were looking in the opposite direction from the towel carts, keeping a close eye on the people mover. E.v.e. was studying them intently through a stack of towels. Eventually, she decided it was safe enough to sneak to the bridge. She glanced back to see Wall.e offering her her hand. E.v.e. shook her head, and Wall.e sat down and curled up into a ball. E.v.e., lacking anything better to disguise Wall.e with, placed a stack of towels on her head, and then pointed at the trash chute halfway across the deck from the towel carts. Wall.e lifted her head up slightly, and blinked at E.v.e., then offered her hand once again. E.v.e. shook her head, and zipped off towards the trash chute.

Moments later, E.v.e. burst into Captain McCrea's quarters, startling him out of a deep sleep when she literally blasted the lid off the trash chute. She then opened the plant support chamber on her armor and used her tractor beam to show him the plant. Captain McCrea was amazed to see the plant for himself. He exitedly grabbed the plant, and asked E.v.e., "How did you find it? No wait, don't tell me- I want to see for myself!" He detached a holo-projector from his quarters computer pad, and attached it to E.v.e.'s head. The projector started playing a reel of E.v.e.'s time on Earth. As it showed E.v.e. flying, almost blasting Wall.e, and then then scanning for a living Western Red Cedar Tree, Captain McCrea's face fell. He said, "That doesn't look like earth...", then followed with, "Where's the blue sky? Where's the grass?" Both he and E.v.e. continued to watch in silence as the reel then showed E.v.e. checking under the hood of an old Prius, inside an old model space capsule, and in the beached ships cargo hold. Next, the reel showed Wall.e interacting with E.v.e., and E.v.e. herself began to feel something she'd never felt before. Footage of "Hello Dolly!" appeared onscreen, and the smile returned to Captain McCrea's face. he remarked, "They're... dancing. Yes, that's it, they're dancing." The footage turned into security camera footage, showing Wall.e desperately trying to wake E.v.e., and then taking her out on pretend dates. E.v.e. was touched that Wall.e cared so much for her... and then she realized that she now cared about Wall.e's well being just as much as Wall.e did about hers. This lead her to an epiphany: She loved Wall.e, and she felt willing to do pretty much anything- even die for her love. E.v.e. then looked down to find herself holding her own hands, much like she had seen Wall.e doing earlier.

Inside the towel carts, Wall.e was now trying to come up with a way to apologize to  E.v.e. for the repair ward incident. She clasped her hands together, knelt on the floor, and said, "E.v.a.?" Wall.e then tried again, this time getting down on one knee, and saying, "E.v.a.?" in a different tone of voice. Finally, she tried kneeling on the other knee and saying, "E.v.a.?" in yet another tone of voice. Then she stood up, gazed down at her own hands, and sadly chided herself, "Pathetic." Then she glanced at the trash chute that E.v.e. had disappeared into. Wall.e nervously glanced at the SECUR-T synths as she tiptoed towards the trash chute. She then hid behind it. The SECUR-Ts, having stood watch for hours, instead turned and looked at each other for a moment before returning to watching the now empty people mover run its course around the Lido Deck. Wall.e re-emerged from behind the trash chute, and pushed up the lid. She glanced up, and queried, "E.v.a.?", as the towels fell off her head, and into the murky void below. She then clambered into the trash chute, and started climbing up it. There were no hand holds, so Wall.e inched up backwards using all four of her cyborg limbs, and her wings for extra stability. She ended up inching up the tube back first, and wondered if she could have possibly clambered in facing the other way without falling down the chute. Wall.e then decided it was probably for the best that she was proceeding the way she did.

On the bridge, Captain McCrea was taking care of the plant. He was holding it under a stream of water from his sink. One of the leaves had fallen off, and McCrea had been unable to reattach it. He'd had E.v.e. scan it, and E.v.e. had indicated that that particular leaf was wilted beyond saving, and then pointed at the sink, indicating that the rest of the plant probably needed water. McCrea pulled the plant out from under the stream, saying, "There you go, little guy. You just need someone to take care of you that's all." Then he looked at his reflection in the window, and realized that the Axiom needed to go back to Earth. He glanced at E.v.e., who was now staring down the trash chute at something. She looked up from the trash chute, and at the Captain. He put his epiphany into words, stating, "We need to go back." E.v.e. nodded in agreement, then pointed at the ceiling and shook her head. Not understanding, Captain McCrea pushed a button on his hover chair, and said, "Auto, we've found the plant. Fire up the Holo-Detector." E.v.e.'s facial expression changed into a horrified visage as the ship's wheel slunk down through a hole in the ceiling... right behind Captain McCrea.
