Description

Wall.e watched, too shocked to say anything, as her dragons collided in mid air and half fell, half rolled into a messy tangle of wings and limbs. Before she knew what she was doing, she leaped off the door to her house, and ran over to Hal and Whiptail. Just before she could reach them, they got back up and started running away. Wall.e began to run after them, shouting at them, (HAL! WHIPTAIL! STOP! HEEL! STAY!). Neither Hal nor Whiptail would listen- they were too preoccupied chasing the mysterious light as it dashed across the ground. Hal and Whiptail began to fall behind the light, and so ran faster. Wall.e started falling behind them, and she in turn ran faster. Behind them, a ring of red lights began to close in around them, their reflections descending down the surrounding buildings and trash towers. Hal and Whiptail took off, still trying to keep up with the light. Wall.e ran still faster, now running fast enough to keep up with a car on the interstate. Finally, Wall.e resorted to flying to try to catch up to her dragons, who were now whistling across a mostly dried up riverbed to keep up with the elusive light. Behind them, the ring was now getting progressively smaller, speeding over the ground faster than the speed of sound. The light eventually stopped in the middle of a dusty plain. Hal and Whiptail finally pounced, both of them "catching" the light with their paws. Wall.e finally caught up to them, and just noticed the light before the trio noticed an increasingly loud roar.

All three of them looked up at the same time, and what they saw was terrifying. A trio of exhaust jets flared above them, spewing brilliant blue and purple flames straight down towards them. Hal and Whiptail took off again, flying away in a blind panic. As the jets descended and made contact with the ground, Wall.e found herself caught in between them. She ran in one direction, against the sudden spray of rocks, and screamed, screeching to a halt mere feet away from one exhaust jet, and quickly trying to flee in another direction. She again screamed, and changed course as she almost ran into the path of a second exhaust jet. She changed course again, almost running into the third exhaust jet. Now blindly panicking, Wall.e blindly ran towards a patch of debris kicked up by the exhaust jets, and rapidly dug herself down into the soil, throwing the scooped up dirt and rocks into the air above her. In doing so, she rapidly buried herself as the heat and light intensified, and the volume of the roar grew to levels that would have been deafening to an unaltered human. The ground began to shake as well, causing Wall.e to dig herself in deeper, and start throwing dirt out of the hole as well as on top of it. A sudden metallic crash followed shortly thereafter, along with the sound of fading engines. Wall.e, realizing that something had just landed practically right on top of her, cautiously pushed the rocks and soil aside.

Her head emerged from the hole mere feet beneath part of a massive thruster. Her armor still glowing red hot and sizzling from the heat, Wall.e cautiously pulled herself out of the hole she'd dug into the ground. Still feeling cautious, she peered out from beneath the edge of the thruster. It was taller than a Red Death is long, with the main body of the rocket presumably being even longer. High above Wall.e, a set of double doors in the bottom of the main body opened with a clang and a hiss, and a set of long metallic arms and waldos unfolded, filling the air with a series of mechanical hums, whirs, and whistles. Intrigued, Wall.e stepped out from beneath the thruster, watching the arms and waldos descend closer to the ground. The final set touched down and deposited a strange capsule on the ground. Feeling rather exposed, and not wanting to arouse suspicion, Wall.e lay flat on the ground among a cluster of rocks and placed a decently sized rock on her head. She watched as the arms accidentally dumped the capsule on the ground upside down, struggled to grip the capsule properly, and then managed to clumsily roll it into a nearly upright position. The capsule then overbalanced, and was caught and re-balanced by a new set of arms. A single mechanical arm, longer and thinner than the others, whirred to life as the rest of the local arms retracted. This arm pressed a series of buttons on the capsule, which lit up as they were pressed. The capsule itself began to hum, quietly at first, but growing louder and louder in volume. The hum reached its loudest volume, and suddenly stopped as the capsule broke open and the two halves of it fell away. In their place hovered a new synth. Wall.e jumped up into a standing position, awed speechless at the sight of another member of her species. The new synths armor looked almost as if it was glowing, the shiny white plating reflecting the soft glow of the late afternoon atmosphere. Wall.e then noticed the lack of features the new synth's armor had, excepting a visor, and the name printed on her left arm. Before Wall.e could take in anything else, the new synth uncurled from a ball, her visor flickering to life as she did so. Wall.e found herself staring directly into the new synths "eyes"- a pair of rounded blue lights. It was a brief moment before the new synth turned away and began scanning the ground, but for Wall.e even a brief moment was long enough. It was love at first sight.
