Description

The Deadly Spinner is one of those dragons that was introduced in TNR, and the last dragon so far to gain an individual rider. This dragon admittedly feels slightly redundant (though not much) given that there are already other spider dragons in the franchise...

The problems I had with the original design were:

- Yet another somewhat weird looking head... this time, it looks a bit like a Deadly Nadders but off... where the previous dragons had Fury heads but off...

- The combination of a semi-globular body and 8 non-wing limbs positioned in a similar manner to a Thunderpede's... no, just no...

- This time, there seem to almost be too many spines and horns on this dragon

The redesigned Deadly Spinner takes inspiration from multiple "threatening" animals, namely the Diamondback Rattlesnake with a hint of spider, and just a pinch of viper. The redesign also took inspiration from mythical creatures, namely the western Gorgon and the eastern Naga. This dragon has a long, serpentine body with the addition of four dual clawed arms, and a pair of uniquely patterned wings. These wings, while mainly used for flying, also serve a secondary function... in self defense. When threatened, the Deadly Spinner flares out its wings, displaying a pair of vaguely eye like diamonds. This typically startles a would be predator long enough to allow the Spinner to escape. The "Deadly" part of its name comes from this dragons retractable fangs, paralyzing venom, and the flaming nets that it spits as a fire type. The "Spinner" part of its name comes more from its flight pattern... this dragon gyrates its tail as it flies, causing the spade at the end to spin, and the rest of the tail to bear a vague resemblance to a flapping wind sock. This dragon interestingly has a pair of eyelash like scales on its head... these appear to serve as some form of primitive, slightly moveable eyelid. Its been said that this dragons gaze can turn you to stone due to a misunderstanding involving its venom.
