Description

This is another dragon that overall had few design flaws. I think they were trying for some kind of vaguely Fury like dragon, but "not a Fury?" Hmmm... the redesign isn't as drastic or as complex as the Gembreakers, but it's at least something...

The major issues I had with the design were:

- The overall "spaced out" look of the dragons face and the roundness/lack of detail of the head

- The lack of feathers apart from some random ones on the head and the tip of the tail

- The neck looked a little too long and thin to properly support its big head

The new Featherhide takes the basic traits that are unique to this species and applies a bit more "Fury" to them... maybe they interbred with some Furies in the past and at least some of those traits spread through the rest of the species over time? It certainly gives the Featherhide some of that "Fury" quality while still being their own dragon. True to their original appearance, the Featherhide retains its signature feathers- it just has a lot more of them now. The Featherhide has a fine downy coat of feathers covering much of its body, with a transition to scales along their underbelly, and transitions to bare skin on their wing membranes, pelvic wings and tail wings, and their nubs. They also have a bare sail on their backs. The Featherhide also has different types of feather and scale- the complex bird like feathers are the ones that make up its crest, as well as lining the leading edges of the wings. The rest of its body is coated in simpler, more hair like fillaments (protofeathers?) intermixed with individual scales. These scales appear to have a similar function to chainmail armor, protecting the dragons skin from the claws and bites of other dragons. It must be noted that they can still be injured by attacks with large amounts of blunt force behind them. They also have large, sort of butterfly like wings, slender pelvic wings, and heart shaped tail wings, which suggests some interbreeding with Light Furies in the distant past. Additionally, this dragon has two different types of blast- a regular plasma blast as found in the Furies, and a sonic scream which has no shot limit and can disorient even a Screaming Death... their eardrums are uniquely resistant to shattering and their hearing is extremely hard to damage as counteradaptions to the force and volume which their screams are emmitted with. They seem to have a rare mutation which completely lacks feathers, and betrays how Fury Like they truly are... unfortunately, most dragons with this mutation don't survive to adulthood, and those that do are unable to reproduce.
