The Mjolnir was a hugely popular motif during the time of the Vikings. Symbol of the thunder-god, Thor, it is a simple, yet highly recognisable design of which many examples have been discovered by archaeologists over the years. It is likely that, as well as the numerous metal examples found, people of the time would have produced carved examples. These would obviously be inexpensive and quick to produce, but unfortunately are less likely to survive the passage of centuries, owing to the degradable nature of the material.

...No matter! There are now a number of these gorgeous talismans available at World Tree Artifacts, with this example having been made from a stunning cut of yew, with the face left bare to best display the beautiful properties of this wood. Sanded and buffed to a glorious shine and treated with natural oils to bring out the colour of the wood, this is a simple, yet eminently attractive piece.
