Description Red fox (vulpes vulpes, liska obecna) from Pasíčka, station for animals, who are handicaped or who simply can not survive in the wild; Czech republic

NEWEST PHOTO -----> ADORABLE BABY WOLVES!

Story of the photo: this fox has only one eye. It was found in the forest. Expersts say that some myslivci probably used this fox to train their dogs, although it is illegal. One-eyed fox fortunately has a nice home and lovely care now... It lives in a big cage with two other saved red foxes, they have some grass and tree trunks there, comfortable looking boxes to hide and very tasty looking meat. When I saw them, fur of all three foxes was literally shining and foxes seemed very relaxed. I was very satisfied when I saw their living conditions. I bet they have nice lives now

EDIT: I am NOT the one who blame the myslivci! EXPERTS from the station say that. The fox has also NO teeth and there are probably more indications, that myslivci did this to the fox. But stop flaming me for just publishing the opinion of the experts also, people, who think they can surely know "how it really happened" are arrogant - it is so stupid that they think they know everything just through looking at the photo. Experts know this fox in person, they saved her and treat her - they simply DO KNOW BETTER. Deal with that.

EDIT NO.2: HONESTLY, PEOPLE - SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MAKES YOU LOOK A BIT STUPID SITTING IN USA, CANADA, FINLAND OR AUSTRALIA, YOU CAN HARDLY KNOW, WHO MYSLIVCI ARE. SO BETTER NOT SPEAK ABOUT THEM. COMMENTING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DO NOT KNOW IS A BIT EMBARRASING FOR YOU

about ,,IT WAS NOT INJURED BY DOGS, AS NO INJURIES ARE VISIBLE" - I saw a baby fox few days ago, who was brought by myslivci THEMSELVES, and they THEMSELVES said that their dog hunted and injured the fox kit. Fox was injured only few hours ago. And still I had to hold the baby in my arms to be able to touch and feel the injuries. They were all hidden under her SUMMER fur, so no photos show them. Fox in the picture is in her FLUFFY WINTER FUR. So your theory ,,myslivci's dogs did not do it, because no scars are visible" is very naive, as fluffy fur could hide EVERYTHIG.

So again, better not comment, because you know nothing about myslivci

Interesting facts: red fox can hide its food to find it later | usually five cubs are born blind and helpless in the burrow | foxes have many colour variations: usually – ginger-red, but also black or silver, Unfortunately, red fox is kept by fur farms and some ----- torture them just to gain their fur. I feel bad for him I can NOT stand people that are cruel to animals when I see someone that does treat an animal badly something snaps and I get really mad we are all living creatures and are put on this planet for a reason so i will never kill a thing does it mean just because they are different it gives us the right to be cruel to them? NO IT DOES NOT. I am glad he has a good home. I was nearly crying when I saw this.

That is so terrible. Poor dear
I love foxes, always have and to think of any harm coming to one - or any animal for that matter - is just infuriating. Using foxes to train dogs to attack, that's sickening.
I'm glad that these foxes are comfortable and enjoying themselves now, however. That's good to hear

this is so sad, the poor foxy! my best friends dad hunts and i make no effort to hide that i hate it, usually i would be polite but anyone who thinks hunting is a sport, its not! it is humans being the greedy creature that we are. if we are too cold, we destroy a life when we could shear a sheep. were hungry, we kill a chicken when we could grow some vegetables. we want avocados when they're not in season, we pour oil into the sea to ship them here. lets face it, we are destroying the earth just because were big and strong it makes me ashamed to be human

Shearing sheep doesn't kill them. Sheep were bred to produce massive amounts of wool, it's no different than clipping a dog. Plus, they're not shorn in the winter; it would be counterproductive.

julesme In reply to Summercen [2011-06-02 23:07:56 +0000 UTC]

i know im saying that we murder when it would be better to shear a sheep because it doesnt kill or hurt them.

Summercen In reply to julesme [2011-06-03 03:40:19 +0000 UTC]

But you don't kill sheep for wool. It doesn't make financial sense.
We kill sheep for food, but not for wool. No-one kills their sheep for wool.

i know peopel dont kill them for wool, im just saying that its better to use sheep wool where it doesnt harm them, rather than kill an animal for fur

Poor baby. Did you know that foxes were once "man's best friend" long before dogs were? Excavated ancient graves in the Middle East evidenced people even being buried with their foxy friends. Here's an article that is somewhat similar to the one I read: [link]

I remember when I was younger and my puppy (Bless her soul) got into a fight with a raccoon with her brother (Bless his soul), the raccoon ripped a slit from just a half inch from the corner of her eye back towards her ear...I cradled her in the back of my mom's car in the middle of the night to an animal emergency hospital where she received numerous stitches. Both she and her brother lived with me for 16 years, and though that scar was always with her under the fur, the area of her face looked perfectly fine after a few years. I only saw the scar because I knew it was there and was always petting her face. Point is to those who keep saying the eyes of this fox looks fine (or the area around the eye) and is therefore not hurt via a hunter or even another animal--that may not be true just because it looks that way.

I'm very glad these foxes are being taken care of--but I'll be honest, it freaked me out a little to learn this fox was alive. He looks like a taxidermy plushie.

Tenmashi In reply to shinedust [2011-06-02 20:38:00 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking the same thing about the lack of scars. Reminds me of designs of animals with fur and scars, which is totally illogical since the fur would grow back and cover it eventually (safe for really big/nasty scars I guess).

woxys In reply to shinedust [2011-06-02 06:20:28 +0000 UTC]

I am also sure they have more evidence that hunters did it to the fox - surelly not only hurt eye poor animal has also no teeth

and nooo, taxidermy plushies are extremely awfull in my eyes, I HATE THEM XD thus fox was alive and cute

shinedust In reply to woxys [2011-06-02 06:41:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh poor baby! Yeah, I can't see how another animal would pull out the teeth of a fox...

I'm alright with them, but only because I have taxidermy friends who only do roadkill of certain animals or get the pelts from humane deaths (old age, disease...) but it took me a while to be able to understand the 'art,' it use to just make me really sad.

Krissyfawx In reply to ??? [2011-06-02 06:05:22 +0000 UTC]

Don't automatically assume that this was the work of hunters. Keep in mind that there are also other animals in the forest as well that may have attacked it, or it got into a fight with another fox. Mother Nature can be far more cruel than any hunter.
Glad to hear he's being taken care of though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

woxys In reply to Krissyfawx [2011-06-02 06:14:42 +0000 UTC]

I DO NOT assume anything! EXPRERST from the station says that - other indication is, that the fox has also NO teeth! I am sure they had more indication that those are hunters to blame.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Krissyfawx In reply to woxys [2011-06-02 07:04:36 +0000 UTC]

No teeth can also mean they fell out from disease, a bad abscess on the mouth from an injury, or it is just a very old animal. I don't think these 'experts' are considering other factors.
