Description
Another dragon for my fantasy...ohhh this is so fun. I made a cursed dragon in the past, wretchedspawn2012.deviantart.c⦠but it wasn't for the story I have now.I guess you could say there's a bit of Skyrim influence in here....I've been playing that game for several hours too many ever since I got out of my first year of college to the point where it kind of found itself on my artwork o_O
The sketchbook I did this in JUST fits in my scanner, but the damn thing cropped off the itsy bitsy tip of the tail. Awkward crops...UGH.
EDIT: WOW just barely a week in and this already cracked over 2,500 views? o_O that never happens to me...you guys are awesome!
~ Norvaalg is one of the five Dragons of Wrath, and was one of the most vile dragons alive during its time, and was responsible for terrorizing and massacring several cities among the Dragon Domain. It was slain by an unknown warrior during a lengthy and deadly battle. A wretched soul-trapping spell was ordered by the early kings to cast upon the dragon's corpse when it was locked away in its tomb in the Dragon Graveyard. Centuries later, a necromancer was summoned to re-animate the dragon's corpse and reverse the spell for the great war and serve the dark lord of Orghal-Morth. Though the necromancer could re-animate any dragon from the Dragon Graveyard and have it serve as his steed, he wanted a particular dragon that had a deadly reputation. And to his advantage, Norvaalg's curse allowed him to spit a venomous blue and white flame that not only burned, but infected its victims with a deadly poison. The dragon's barbed tail had the same fate if the victim was impaled by it. This power however, did not affect heavily armored dragons.

Β Β The description of the cursed dragon is awesome. What exquisite detail of the dragon's body. I love the way you drew the wings, claws and tail.

Thanks!
Oh Skyrim is a MUST if you're a dragon/ fantasy fanatic. It's kind of tricky at first and some of the enemies can be intimidating to fight on your first play (except Thalmor Guards and Blood Dragons...those are never fun to battle imo) but once you get the hang of it it's really fun.

Oh my gosh. The detail on this is phenomenal! This is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork I have seen in a while. And, I absolutely love that dark, twisted look you gave him. Really cool piece!

Thanks! Well the story is still a WIP...hell I'm not even physically writing it, I'm just trying to gather ideas and events so I can puzzle it together when it's ready. But so far I have a lot of characters and creatures that will be well on their way for the rest of the year.

Sure!
Honestly most of the same things can be said about your dragon as I said to VargrantLeg3nd. Study anatomy (mostly muscles and bones) and real life animal species. For dragons I would study reptiles, birds, mammals and fish. It doesn't really mean go into scientific detail, just at images on google and try to get inspired by different poses and skin/ scale patterns. And of course look at other dragon art as well. Personally, most of the inspiration for my dragons came from Mcfarlane's Dragons, they're highly detailed and realistic figurines. You can buy them on amazon, some of them cost more than others...but they are definitely worth the investment if you're a big dragon buff, or just a fanatic of fantasy in general.

Thanks!
Concerning your dragons, I think they are a decent start. I would recommend look into and study more anatomy. But don't just study dragon anatomy. Studying humans real animals will help tons. But for dragons I would study reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, and fish. In fact look more than that. Insects...probably won't help you a lot though. I can't remember the last time I referenced an insect for a dragon. Mostly study muscles and bones - those are key. If you can show what's underneath the skin (or scales) you've already accomplished some form of anatomy. Right now your dragons don't have a lot of muscle tone and their anatomy seems a bit too smoothed out. Not that every dragon has to be a big muscular brute, but showing bones and muscles will give your creatures a lot more credibility.
