Description
Well it's about time lmao. (Definitely didn't get pushed to finish this because I lost the notebook with the crudely done sketch I've been relying off of no not at alll.) (Also I promise y'all will get a proper stable journal at some point.)
Lavender Mists (Named for how the mists from the mountains would hang over the Millburn Families Lavender Fields.) is located on the Oregon coast, with a view of the states mountain range(s) in the distance. About a ten minute ride to the nearby (Fictious) Town of Rushwater, Oregon, The stable is well known to locals as it's been standing since 1858. Originally getting it's start as a small family owned Livery (U-Haul but for Carriages.) that would sometimes offer empty stalls for folks staying in the newly built Rushwater to keep their horses in. Today, it's still owned by the original family, only now the stable no longer focuses on carriages, and instead focuses on the English 3DE disciplines (Including Eventing itself and the disciplines that are apart of it) along with Endurance riding and the occasional Mounted Archer here and there (long story..).
For Ease of Reference, the numbering on the above map has been divided into three 'Areas':
Area A - The Millburn Families property, where the original stable was.
Area B - The main grounds of the stable
Area C - Grounds related to the Millburns' but not technically apart of the stables.
Area's A and C are only open to the public on occasion, where as Area B is open to the public at all times.
-
Area A:
1a: The Millburn family home, Where Sadie and Alexis Millburn (Along with Sadie's Stepfather and Mother reside.)
2a: A simple garage that originally served as a storage shed for the original stable building.
3a: A simple chicken coop, home to the Millburn's three chickens - Including a Rooster that Sadie despises.
Area B:
1b: The main stable building. There's a tack room at the end of each lengthwise building, along with a larger one in the main widthwise building. Said widthwise building also has partially enclosed cross ties overlooking the Mare/Gelding Pasture.
2b: The Courtyard arena, typically used for simplistic groundwork training, lunging, basic riding lessons for young kids, warm-ups for shows, or the in-hand phase of Merkwürdig gradings.
3b: The Indoor Arena (Yes, this is the BG for horse references) is typically used for everything from lunging to jumping to 'Alexis is bored and wants to practice her mounted archery but it's winter in the pacific northwest'. It's larger than the courtyard arena as well, so its often utilized as a secondary warm up arena for large shows. It's also used for the Free Jumping and Under Saddle phases of Merkwürdig gradings.
4b: The Dressage arena.. that's it.. that's all it is.
5b: The Showjumping arena.. again, that's all it is.
6b: The Cross Country Arena is a short trek through the woods to get to, and partially runs onto the beach and into (a buoyed off section of) the ocean. Unlike the Dressage, Indoor, and Show Jumping arenas, there is no counterpart to the XC arena in the guest area, so this is used for both training and events.
7b: The Clubhouse.. is a clubhouse. It's more often than not used as a hangout by the gang when no one feels like trudging up the hill to the Millburn home.
8b: The Mare Gelding/Pasture, used for turn out and grazing (or for Alexis to dramatically lay in and may or may not convince five year olds that are learning to tack up a horse for the first time that she's a body.)
9b: The (Seldomly used) Stallion pasture.
Area C
1c: The Lavender fields that the stable gets its name from. During some special events, an arena nearby may be temporarily fenced off for use as a show arena.
2c: The fountain/stone benches. A statue of Madame Millburn stands atop this fountain at the end of the lavender fields, still maintained after all these years.
