I'm thinking, what if they aren't' into this and are just acting overly feminine to avoid unfair judgement. Maybe at the core they just want to forget this cruel world, where you get body shamed if you don't look, "good enough". And they really can't stand thinking about the way they look, because it triggers bad memories. And they firmly believe in," Don't just a book by it's cover" And they can't believe people think: "OMIGAWSH You look amazing! Why don't you have some fun with this?!" And they all get depressed easily, and share a common favorite song of polarize, for they all suffer from anxiety, and bi-polar disorder. Maybe they just wish to be "normal" again.

Yeah, I just checked, Rule 63 states that for any male character there is also a female version of that character (and the other way round. So it's basically genderbend)
