I've been trying to redesign Wolverine's costume for years for my fanfiction story, but I could never come up with a look that worked for me. I kept settling for 'good enough for now". But really like this one.

The main thing I wanted is a return to his original mask and a plan cloths look. Basically pants and a shirt.

In my story he is gravely injured in the beginning during an alien invasion. Thor, Hyperion, Wolverine, and Hawkeye walk out into the streets from the bar they were in as the alien invasion started. Thor shouts to his present teammates, “There will be a reckoning!” And suddenly two hands come from behind and snap Thor’s neck before he has a moment to resist. The hammer and lifeless body of Thor fall to the ground and Hyperion is shown to be the killer. He simply says, “Regretfully, I must agree.” Hawkeye immediately draws his bow and an explosive arrow, but Hyperion blast the arrow with his lasers. The resulting explosion takes Hawkeye’s right hand and forearm, his left arm, and left eye. Wolverine lunges for Hyperion’s throat, and draws blood. But Hyperion’s skin is so dense and durable that he survives. Hyperion grabs Wolverine and rips out two of his claws. Wolverine asks, “Why?” And Hyperion simply says, “You were all too dangerous.” And then Hyperion blasts Wolverine in the face with his lasers so intensely that all the flesh on Wolverine’s head is blasted away and two holes can be seen blasting out of the back of Wolverine’s adamantium laced skull. (If you look closely at my drawing, I tried to make them look like bone claws, while the other claws remain covered in adamantium). His brain is ultimately destroyed.

He is left for dead, but his healing factor saves him. He is initially feral when he awakens and he has total amnesia up until that moment. (He will eventually regain his physical skills, i.e. martial arts, and linguistic skills. But his actual memories are gone for good.

Hawkeye and a group of children, who have been caring for Hawkeye, are the ones who first finds Wolverine in his feral state. Hawkeye and the kids help Wolverine regain his humanity. In the coming battles Wolverine and Hawkeye work side-by-side in every mission and maintain a close friendship. After the war is eventually won, they open a foster home and training center/school for displaced children and children with special abilities.
