Description

What is a Friend List?

A character friend List is a way to keep track of all the relationships in your character’s life. I made this for my group Wyngro, but anyone may use it for any group or character out there!

<--Live example

This as a way to motivate artists to interact with other artists, go outside comfort zones, and make character development more like a game/challenge! How many friends can you get? Let’s go!

How it works:

Download the PSD from this deviation and make a "Friend List" deviation to post! Just add a fullbody image of your character somewhere! You can move things around/recolor the template I made, or make your own!
Add it to the Friend Lists folder here!

Fill out your description with the different levels of friendship! Read below to know where things belong.
Add your characters friends! Fit in characters depending on how much they've been drawn with yours!
You can add links to each character's reference for easy access if you want!
Be as decorative with the lists as you like!

In order to progress to the next level, the characters must pass the previous level. (So certain amounts of art between the two exist, +collab comic etc)

Level 0:

Noticed: (Means you drew your character with this person’s character)
Character: (LINK to your deviation here)

Noticed By: (Means someone draw an interaction of their character with yours)
Character: (LINK to their deviation here)

Level 1:

Acquaintances: (interactions were drawn between both artists)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 2:

Pals: (at least 5 deviations now exist with both your characters interacting in the same art)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 3:

Friends: (Both artists have drawn at least 4 deviations each of these two characters together)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 4:

Good Friends: (A collab comic has been done between both artists of the two characters!)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 5:

Best Friends: (Your characters now have backstory together! At least 10 deviations of these two characters exist, and plot has been discussed between the two artists. Congrats!)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

F.A.Q.s

But what if my character’s relationship is complicated and doesn’t quite fit the “friends” label?

You can change the labels! All that matters is the level-up stars. Feel free to have different sections for different kinds of relationships. Like for instance you could do:

 Best Friends:

 Exes:

 Enemies:

The fact that they’re higher stars just means you have put a lot of work into this character relationship! That’s all! Feel free to mix and match all you want!

How do I find friends for my characters?

Be active in the community! First, make sure to browse those gros who have a friend list here:  www.deviantart.com/wyngro/gall…
Post your character references in as many as you like, and go out of your way to draw your gros interacting with other people's characters! If you do enough, they'll be sure to catch some friends!

Can I add NPCs and/or my own characters to my friend lists?

While this is meant to collab and draw with other people, you can certainly do that as well! The point is to have goals, so if the goal is to establish a relationship between two of your own characters, than go for it!  You can use this if you want!

Acquaintances: (2 deviations exist with these two characters interacting.)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 2:

Pals: (4 deviations exist with these two characters interacting.)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 3:

Friends: (6 deviations exist with these two characters interacting.)
Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 4:

Good Friends: (8 deviations exist with these two characters interacting. +1 comic)

Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

Level 5:

Best Friends: (10 deviations exist with these two characters interacting.)

Character: (ref here and/or list of deviations here)

What if the other artist leaves Wyngro, stops talking to me, or doesn’t want to plot with me anymore?

If there are bad feelings, feel free to remove these characters from your lists, but we always encourage people to reach out, communicate, and be kind to each other. Sometimes, things happen, but someone has to be the bigger person and reach out for a compromise in order to reach a resolution. So why not you?

If all else fails, it’s good to have a plan B for your character plots so that you don’t feel discouraged to continue. In your character friendship post, feel free to add the following disclaimer:

Disclaimer: If for whatever reason a plot falls through with my characters, please respect that I will make alterations to my plot in order to suit my character’s new development. This includes introducing a plot that removes your character suddenly, or pretending that they were never a part of the story to begin with. This is meant to motivate my character development, and not to cause drama. Remember that nothing I draw or say about your character needs to be considered canon by you, if you don’t want it to be.

Now for the Challenge: See how many relationship stars you can get!

Go out of your way to draw your character interacting to all sorts of different characters!

Try to go beyond your friends or normal artists and try new people too! You never know what could happen or who you might meet!

Do you have to use this exact template for the challenge? I'm having some troubles with the file downloading and all, so I wondered if I could make a list of my own instead?
