Truth be told, it really is time for something new. I know that when you first learn an app like 3ds it's tempting as hell to add a noise modifier to some absurdly extruded primitives, toss a reflective material on it, color dodge some light streams in photoshop, and finish it out with a couple of 2d shapes and random text... but it's honestly cheap. Think about your peice, plan it. Sketch it on paper. Get your ideas together and learn to create it as you see it in your mind. Don't just "tinker" with shit until you feel comfortable calling it an "alien submarine" or "a new planet forming" or "the light behind the eyes of a madman" or whatever other silly assed descriptions we've all read.
Don't take it the wrong way. I looked at this peice and your other work and this is an honest criticism. I hope you take it for what it is.

Beautiful, amazing renders. And the 2d is impressive. The only thing that bothers me is the repedative things that have the number 24 int he lower left corner. Better than everything else though ^_^

Ugh, this is especially disappointing since you claim to have the ability to "model and do animation". And after seeing more of this boring stuff, I seriously doubt that.
The renders in this seem to have no real composition and appear to be just thrown together, with colour dodge attempt at airbrushing layed over it. The second focal point in the bottom left really ruins this merely because it is like a smaller repetition of what is already done. The lineart and typo aren't too bad, and were the only ok parts in this piece. But other than your 3d, you need to work on your airbrushing. Right now, you need to learn to bring things together other than using colour dodge. Airbrushing abstract pieces is more than a central explosion and a bunch of colour dodged spots. it requires composition, creativity, and patience. This whole piece is messy and appears to be thrown together.
Start spending quality time on your pieces, or maybe, you should get a new style, because right now it's really getting boring.

I almost chose "Somewhat Like Deviation", only because it has a little thought in placement of effects. There isn't any one particular focal point, it doesn't follow any rule of composition... which is fine to an extent, when things are depictable.. but I don't think anyone can tell what this is.
As a colab it is highly trend-whorish and it is repulsive in that sense. Not only are wallpapers like this "dime-a-thousand", but they don't really offer any individuality. Colabs should reflect more imagination, in my opinion, since any one person can create a wallpaper like this in a relatively very short time.
I think this was an experiment, which is good. Keep experimenting-- I think you both can come up with something much more unique.

Well, I don't know how these are made, so I can't say anything about the relative difficulty level of this. I do like the colors that were used (that particular shade of blue is my soft spot, what can I say?), but just from floating around this site and looking at a thousand pieces pretty much exactly like this, but with different colors.. It's alright. It doesn't make me jump up and down with excitement, but it has several spots that I really do like (especially concentrated in the whitish blue area).

i dont knwo what to say, before i came to deviant art i'd say this was amazing but now.. i dont know, i've seen it before a million times. it's definately very well done, as far as i know that is. it just seems like there should be alot more to it, like its a really up close picture of an exploading space ship or something, where's the rest of it at? it just seems like this is all special effects and no emotion, which makes me feel retarded for saying. i guess i'm just trying to say that your work is to deviant art what tripple x is to the movie world. a million dollars in special effects and nothing more. try applying your skills differently maybe? i dont know, i really am nothing more than a dumbass so disregard my comment if you've even bothered reading the entire thing.

The colours are alright in some places, I think the texturing could be better on the right-hand side. The 2d could also use a little bit more work, the airbrushing is good though. But it could use a better sense of realism.
Overall not bad. Not sure if it deserves a Top Favorite, but still...not bad.
