i saw you standing on an emptystreet
we we're there at the same time. in our own worlds.
i happened to be listening to a track recorded by annie lennox earlier in the day this was shot.
sometimes i walk away when all i really wanna do
is love and hold you right
there is just one thing i can say
nobody loves you this way
it's alright
can't you see the downtown lights?
in love we're all the same
we're walking down an empty street
and with nobody calling on the phone
empty streets, empty nights, the downtown lights
tonight and every night
let's go walking down this empty street
let's walk in the cool evening light
wrong or right
be at my side
under the downtown lights
and it will be alright
the neon's and the cigarettes
rented rooms and rented cars
the crowded trains, the empty bars
chimney tops and trumpets
the golden lights, the loving prayers
the coloured shoes, the empty streets
and the downtown lights

postscript: interesting how the art you like best happens by accident. i took the series of shots for this all on one street in the city of York in england over the course of a few minutes. i actually had a completely different idea of what i would use them for. when i started to collate this just 'happened'. then i realised that it was following on from : [link] and i had also just chosen a new favorite for my page which, if you look really cements it all together! a final word about the people in the picture.. my step-mom is in the image! she is over to the left, walking away, she has a sweater tied around her waist and a bag on her shoulder..

it is. i can see it in everything you do.. go out on a limb. i'm guessing you live in an urban setting.. so find the stuff that is not urban right there.
some of your best photography (imho) was 'columns' and 'limited resources' because you were seeing 'other things' within the familiar landscape.
your drawing talents are incredible. you have a good flow and an eye for perfection. i dont know if you are pursuing anything along the design lines in your life, but i would say you have got some wits about you to explore it as a possibility.
and, after looking at 'absence' i am not sure how you can feel like you lack creativity. that is something i have never seen before and i am a gallery whore! [link]
you have the ability to capture pure joy with 'smiley shea', adress issues of social tension on 'peer pressure' and incredible design on 'born again'. [link]

thanks. many things take focus and everything else fades. sometimes we think we have all our focus and then in the space of hours or days the world decides its time to learn something and turns it all around.

things that walk out of our picture, more often than not, were never meant to be there. we will to create and we pursue to refine.
those things serve their purposes, its our opportunity to thank the universe for sending them to help us learn something. and it is sometimes best to remember that once their work is done, they may well leave the picture. something which we cannot become hurt about, unless we want to learn another lesson.. over and over

the streets aren't empty. they are filled with troubles and joy, violence and compassion. when the streets are empty to you, its' because your heart has been emptied. something like that.
