I recently watched a stage production of the musical version, and through the production kept imagining how best to draw the two figures. Here we have the first of the two; the obsessed scientist, Doctor Henry Jekyll
We see him in the hospital, working on his research, a vial of his latest compound in his hand as he examines it. Behind him, his father, a man whose mind has collapsed, leaving him confined in a wheelchair. Although the light of the sun shines into the hospital room, Jekyll's father is continually wrapped in darkness. It is his father's misfortune that drives him so - determined to find a cure and rid his father of this endless night.
