The Takura Lake region is a large section of land that is unaffected by Astarte's Desert Curse, making it valuable to both the Jamesians and Astarts who have been fighting over the region for hundreds of years.

It also serves as a base for the Jamesians and Astarts to attack each other as the Lower Orodia-North Jamesia boarder is more desolate with few oases.
The lakeside colonies are more loyal to Astarte while the forests are more loyal to the Jamesians.
