3. Getting back homeI WOKE UP TO PITCH BLACKNESS AND A HARD GROUND AGAINST MY back. "Nnngh… Where am I? All I remember is trying to finish off Xion, then blackness." I looked down and saw that my jacket was soaked with water. It must have rained last night while I was out. "Dang… Stupid rain. I hate it when I'm right in the middle of it. Any other time I'm completely fine with it." Why am I talking to myself now? It's creeping me out. "At least it's dry now. I guess I should let my jacket dry out." I unzipped my jacket and set it out to dry while I sat on the edge of the building I was set on and just started thinking and singing to myself. "I've been waiting. For someone, to find me. And become a part of me… I've been waiting. For you to come here, and kill me and set me free. I've been waiting for…" There is some irony behind me singing this particular line of the song too. I just love the song though.
"Whatcha singing Xia?" A curious voice asks from behind me.
I scream and jump off the building in shock. I wasn't expecting to have company on this lonesome roof of mine.
"Oh my god… Xia, are you alright?" Nvexa runs over to the edge of the roof right as I push up with a tremendous burst of energy that pulses through my wings and up through my body.
"Yeah Nvexa, I'm fine." I say with pure sarcasm. It was hard to see me with my black tee, light gray short shorts and my black hi high tops. "I just had the life scared out of me. But I'm absolutely fine. It's a good thing I have wings genetically added into my back, or I would've been dead. You're lucky I'm like you with the wings part." I look at him with dead eyes like I do to almost everyone else.
A wave of sorrow fills his eyes. "Sorry. I didn't mean to. Really. Please don't hate me Xia." He looks down like he's ashamed of himself for scaring me like that. "I thought you knew I was right behind you. I did take you here after you passed out after all. I think I have that power to make you stop in your tracks of being in berserker mode. You can do thee same for me too I think. Let's not try it anytime soon though." So he's the one that brought me here. And he brought me out of berserker mode. Interesting ability to have.
"It's fine. I do that to everyone. Well, the dead eyes part. That's just who I am. Don't worry about it. I'm absolutely fine. Well, I hate to rush out of here, but I have to get back home soon. They'll be wondering where I've been at. It's been like two weeks anyway. That's way longer than how long I'm usually out for." I walked over to my jacket and picked it up and folded it. "I'm sorry I haven't been able to talk to you much, or thank you properly for saving me and snapping me out of my berserker mode. I must get that from my father figure." I said as I was folding up my jacket and getting ready to fly all the way home. It was going to be a long trip anyway.
"Oh, ok. I understand Xia. But, can I come along with you? I want to see what it's like where you're from. Also though, I wanna get away from here. I hate how they treat me just because I'm the new guy." He asked with curiosity and a small wave of depression when he told me about the organization hating him and rolling his wings out to his full fourteen foot wingspan.
"Sure! But we have to set out now, so we have the ability to go to school tomorrow." I smile and jumps off the side of the building. He's probably going to ask me what a school is. I thought to myself with a smug grin.
"School? What in the world is a school?" Nvexa asks with a confused sideways glance.
I looked at him and stifled back a laugh. "It's a place where kids usually ages 4 to 18, or 3 to 17 in my case, go to learn various things to prepare them for life on their own so they can get jobs sometime in the future. The school knows that I have wings and need to exercise a lot more than anyone else, so I only go to science, social studies, gym and band." It's kind of hard to explain what a school is to a kid that has never seen one before without making him feel like a complete idiot. But I think I did a good job of explaining it.
"Well, I'm up for trying new things. So I guess I'll come with you. Will it be fun?" He says with optimism after a moment of thought.
"Depends on how you look at it. Some kids call it boring. Others like it because they get to talk to all their friends. Or boyfriends." I trail off, thinking of him. "So let's get going! It's a long way to Radiant Garden from here!" I smile and pull him off the building, eager to show him how life's like outside of this god forsaken world.
"Whoa! Calm down Xia! I'm right behind you!" he screams as he quickly unfurled his wings and flew closely beside me. "I'm guessing you like school a lot." He states.
"A little bit. But I haven't seen my friends in a while too. So I'm eager to see them mostly. But him above all…" I trail off and think of the one person I hate being without no matter what. "But I can't wait to be around everyone again. You'll fit in with us perfectly though." I smile and stare straight ahead and make my way out of this world and to my beautiful hometown of Radiant Garden.
