Description
Wow the first chapter picture that doesn't have Miss Nae-nae in it. And also Wow my first time drawing Monty. hahaI think it turned out pretty well.
As you can see in this chapter we go to Gator Golf and have some fun ^^
You can read the written portion here:
Working at the Superstar Daycare Ch 7Chapter 7: Gone Golfing I joined my coworkers to observe the children playing with Mr. Sun. The robot jumped around and playfully tagged them and ran away when the children tried to get him. I was tempted to join in. Although, I wasn't at that level of comfortable yet. Instead, I stuck close to the people I knew. “So uh,” I looked at the two next to me, Miss Mia in particular. I knew her more at this point. “What's the plan for today? Mr. Jones said I was here to help with transitions, too.” “Oh yeah!” Mia jumped up, “In a little bit we're going to take the kids to Monty Golf. You know, Monty Monday!” I understood now what the children were talking about. Kids have a habit of just saying things without context. So I wasn't able to tell if Avery told me about something she was doing with her family or here. The last time I went golfing was, never actually. Not unless you include mini golf. I had done that once a long time ago. I could barely remember it. “That'll be fun,” I thought about the children swinging golf clubs around. Smacking each other... Nope, don't think about it. It'll be fine. “So we'll just walk them there?” “Yes, that's the hard part,” Miss Cassandra's smile looked tired, “Keeping the children together. I'm happy you are here to help, Nae. It worries me every time.” “Oh, dear...” My heart sank thinking about how hard it would be to find a lost child in this huge building. So many places to hide. To get lost. Hopefully, with the three of us, it will be okay... Wait. “When does Mr. Nico come in?” “He closes so he doesn't come till later,” Mia shrugged, “Since you're here he didn't have to come in early today.” “No worries,” Miss Cassandra added, “Once we get there the bot will take care of the children. We only bring them and watch.” “Oh, okay,” I wondered if the staff were allowed to participate in the activities. I low-key wanted to try it out. But I would be just as satisfied watching. It would be interesting to see who Monty was. How that animatronic worked. Before my mind could wander any further a loud voice echoed through the play area. It made me jump a bit. I mumbled a chuckle of embarrassment. “ATTENTION SUPERSTARS!” It was Sun's voice. It sounded like it was all around us. Like his voice was being broadcast through the announcement speakers. “It is time for some FUN! Please, gather at the door.” The children quickly made their way over to us and put on their shoes. They cheered and chanted about golfing and Monty Monday. “Now, children. Make a line,” Cassandra instructed, “You are very excited, I see.” She looked at Mia. Her eyebrows raised. That look only a mother could give. The 'what are you supposed to be doing' look. “Oh crap!” Mia mumbled under her breath and scampered off to a cabinet behind the computer desk. Nearly tripped on her way there. She was trying so hard to get it done quickly that the cabinet dumped its contents onto the floor. “Oh no! What a mess!” Sun's reaction was exaggerated. His hands were up by his face and his weight went from one foot to the other. Exclamation marks flashed in his eyes. “Miss Mia, please be more careful.” Despite his reaction, Sun didn't attempt to go help her. It appeared that he really REALLY wanted to, but couldn't. “I got it, I got it!” Miss Mia called out, “Don't worry!” She tried to shovel the items back in one big armful. That only made the animatronic's reaction more panicked. “Everything has a place and everything must be in its place!” Mr. Sun exclaimed, “In an emergency, things must be where they belong! Please put them back in order.” “Okay, okay, uh-” Mia had to take everything out again to put them back in correctly. She was clearly struggling to get it all done quickly. At this point, Cassandra stepped in to help her. The children were starting to gather by the desk as well. Some attempting to join them back there. But they were stopped by either another child or Sun reminding them they were not allowed back there. I had to do something. “Okay, everyone,” I stood in front of the door and waved them over, “Line up in front of me! We'll play a game while we wait.” “Oh! Oh! I LOVE games!” Mr. Sun, now fully distracted, pranced over to me and the children naturally followed. It took a couple more prompts for everyone to be in line again. Once the children had their focus on me I started the game. “Alright, here's the rules,” I began to explain, “I'm going to do the motions to a song and you tell me if you know which one it is. Okay, here is the first one...” I touched the thumb and index finger of both hands together and began to twist them back and forth. With each twist, I would raise my hands. “I know it! I know it!” Sun waved his hand in the air, “Oh... but what was it called again? Mmmm...” His theatrics got the kids excited to answer. They were jumping up with their hands raised all eager to say the song's name. I pointed to the children who all yelled out “Itsy Bitsy Spider!!!” “You got it right! Great job! Now here's the next one...” All the children's eyes were fully fixated on my hands. I opened and closed both hands a few times. Then tapped a finger on my head. “What is it? What is it?” Sun rubbed his face in thought. The children were not quite sure what it was yet either. I continued and pointed at the sky. Then made a diamond with my fingers. The children gasped and raised their hands. The light glimmered in their eyes. I again pointed to them and they shouted, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!!!!” “Wow! You all are so good at this game! Let's see...” I had begun the motions to 5 Little Ducks when my coworkers returned. Mia looked absolutely exacerbated. Cassandra on the other hand was as calm as ever. They had a long rope slung over their arms. It was blue with colorful rings dispersed throughout. “Thank you for being patient, children,” Cassandra handed one end of the rope to the child in front, “Now everyone gets a circle.” Tiny hands grabbed at the colorful loops. Some of them found it more fun to put their whole arm in instead. Others tried to wear it as a hat and still others were able to put both hands in at once. Mia grabbed a loop in the middle and handed the remaining rope to me. “You can be the caboose~ Since you don't know where we're going yet,” She told me. I passed the rope along till the last child had a spot. There was still a lot of rope left. I folded it a few times and draped it over my arm. Cassandra pushed the button by the door. The wooden slabs slowly opened automatically and stopped just as carefully. It was that easy this whole time??? I looked back and forth to check if anyone saw my look of shock. The toothy grin was staring at me. Head tilted to the side. Question marks in his eyes. “What is it, Miss Nae-nae?” Sun questioned. “Oh- uh... Just the door...” I mumbled quietly. I didn't want to put too much attention on my lack of knowledge. “Ah! The button only works if you have a staff pass. So no worries about children leaving alone,” Sun put his hands together and his eyes smiled. That was good to know. I smiled a thank you. “Let's go, children,” Cassandra called behind her, “Monty is waiting for us.” The children could barely contain themselves. It took all of their effort to stay in line. Some of them bumped into each other because of their hastened steps. “GOODBYE, SUPERSTARS~!” Sun called after us, “Be sure to come back safely. I'll miss you!” He pushed the button again to make the doors quietly close. Since I was last, I got the brunt of those loud parting words. My ears twitched back and my shoulders shot up. Did he have to be that loud? I glanced behind me. Before the doors completely closed I saw Sun waving. With his other hand, he had a fist and made a circle with it over his chest. That was one of the few bits of sign language I knew: 'Sorry'. Was he apologizing for the volume? That was rather sweet. For a robot. Well, for anyone really. It was just impressive to see from an AI. With my free hand, I gave an okay sign. The doors then completely closed. Our little train of children made their way passed the shops and arcade. Some people remarked on how cute the parade of children was as we passed by. I was less focused on where we were going. I was more concerned with making sure no one in our line wandered off. I wouldn't be helpful if I had to lead the line next time. But there would be someone who could show me where to go, I thought. It didn't take long to reach our destination. Just through a door and under a set of stairs. It was like traveling through space and time. To a whimsical swamp. I expected to see some mythical creatures hiding in the brush. No such luck. There were, however, plenty of alligator props. Some were merely cutouts and others full robotic puppets. They would pop out of the swampy water when people walked by. Many of the children jumped in unison with them. Quickly followed by laughter. They had definitely been here before. Mini golf courses twisted and turned like snakes throughout the marshy room. Some of them slithering through docks and trailer homes. We walked past many people putting and shuffling from hole to hole. Were we going to golf or not? Why were we just walking past everything? After traversing through more large plants and alligator themed set pieces we arrived at a stage area. There was one of those new animatronic characters waiting for us there. An alligator with the same rock atheistic as the other band members. Pointed shoulder pads, face paint, star sunglasses and all. That was the character on Mr. Nico's apron. So I'd finally be able to learn who that was., The bot tilted its glasses down, “Howdy, kids! Welcome to Monty's Gator Golf,” The animatronic's voice was rough and tough with a southern hint to it. The children waved and greeted the robot. Some more enthusiastic than others. I noticed that Avery looked like she was seeing a famous person for the first time. “HI MONTY!!!” the little girl screamed. Very excited. “Thank ya kindly for the wonderful audience,” Monty chuckled, his alligator tail swaying from side to side. “Mondays are the best day of the week, right kids?” The children echoed in agreement. “Course they are! Let's have some fun,” The bot motioned for the children to follow. Which they were more than happy to do. The ground vibrated with each step he took. He not only looked tough, he acted tough. Monty just made you think he could snap you in half. At least his size and apparent weight did. The gator lead us to a more enclosed area of the marsh. The holes here were simpler than the others and the balls were big and soft. The golf clubs were cute and made of thin plastic. I sighed in relief. This was much safer than I thought it would be. “Now who's ready to get a hole in one?” Monty goaded a reaction from the children. They all grabbed a club and ball and waved them in the air. The bot smiled smugly. Somehow. “YEAH!” He cheered, fist in the air as well. The animatronic wasted no time instructing the children on how to play. I gathered up the rope and held it neatly in my arms. It was heavier than I thought it would be. But I wasn't about to complain. My coworkers stood on the other side of the fence. I joined in, the rope slung over my shoulder. Miss Cassandra was mumbling to herself and pointing her finger in the play area. “22... 23. That's everyone,” She rested her hands together, “We made it. Good.” “Nice~” Mia leaned into the nearest bar and waved at a child inside, “Now we can chill.” The golf game seemed to be going well. Most of the children were able to handle it just fine. And for the few who couldn't, the animatronic was able to help easily. Whenever there was a good play the southern gator would congratulate them. “Super play, there kid!” he would say. The children all concentrated hard on getting praise from the robot. It was all very cute. “So what's after this?” I asked, “Lunch is soon right?” It was close to midday now. And if this place was much like the others I've worked at, after lunch would be- “We'll be here for another 30 minutes,” Cassandra began to explain, “Then we'll head back and-” “HOLE IN ONE!” Monty's voice echoed all around us, “Nice job, bucko!” The room reverberated with the sound of cheering and laughter for a good while after that. I managed to hold back my flinch and instead smiled. The kids were having so much fun. “Ah, well...” My older coworker had her hand on her chest. It seemed that startled her more than me. She breathed out and continued, “We'll head back for lunch.” “And we have one last play time before nap!” Mia added, “Too get those last jitters out, ya know.” “Yeah, that's nice,” My mouth tried to curl up. I started to feel nervous again. My insides felt like they twisted into a weird position. Despite what I had said earlier, I was still on edge about nap time. We'll get there when we get there. I'm just overthinking it. Like usual. I'll be fine.
