Thank you so much!
This is an old winter scene! I see a lot of things that I would make better today.
The smoke and the grass for example.
And the whole image is too dark for day and too bright for a night scene.
But I still like it and I'm glad you like it too!

Should be rather hoar frost than snow.

Oh wow, that is really cooooold! I'm getting a chill just thinking about it. hehe Love this pretty scene. The cottages looks so warm and cozy in comparison with all the frozen trees and grass. I bet it's really pretty in the nighttime like your image with all the sparkling ice and snow. Beautiful! Be sure to stay bundled up! Yikes! You really could freeze out there.

Thank you! I'm accustomed to cold weathers and I love the winter. Except the winter will never end. Snow in april or may is not very nice.

Your most welcome! Since I have lived in AZ, it's even more difficult to handle the colder weather. hehe I've gotten a bit spoiled. I don't even wear a coat during the winter here in the desert. But we can drive a couple of hours north and be able to enjoy the snowy weather and ski as well. Yay!

Ha-ha, Simone! -20 Β° C is not very cold! This is normal. We now have 10 days, the temperature during the day and colder at night.
You are well able to pass the low temperature. When there are extreme cold, the smoke from the chimney rises as column (vertical). Though strange to look at these typical mid-European home in almost a Siberian landscape.
Nevertheless, the highest rating from me!
By the way, I had now on a disk similar to the landscape. Not enough inspiration to finish.

I know, in Russia it's much colder, some of the coldest places of the world are in Siberia, do you live there? But majority of people live in warmer countries.
About the smoke, maybe there is a little breeze?
And landscapes like this, you can find in Central Europe too.
Thank you very much for the comment!

I lived two years in Siberia. However, it was a long time. There, in the winter -40 Β°C, -45 Β°C - a common occurrence.
Now I live in Moscow. Today is -25 Β°C. This, of course cold. But it happens and -32 Β°C.

In Siberia it is good in the summer. There is very much hot, an is sharp-continental climate. The beautiful taiga is a lot of berries and mushrooms. In winter there is nothing to do.

I love to search and cook mushrooms. I know a lot of them and do this each year very often in late summer and early fall.

Charleston SC - a legendary place. I read some novels about the Old South.

Yeah there was a soap opera writer that wrote a bunch of novels with names like 'Sullivan's Island', 'Isle of Palms', 'Folly Beach', 'Plantation'... etc... which are all locations near Charleston... The Civil War started here with the bombardment of Fort Sumter at the entrance to Charlestong Bay. The satirist-musician Randy Newman wrote 'Sail Away' about the dark side of Charleston history as the port of entry for most of the slaves that came to America.
Nice place to visit and all that but... When I told my mother how Charleston had won an award for being 'the Politest City in America' for several years running she responded. "Just because they are polite does not mean they are nice. Watch your back." She was right.

I read a lot of books about the civil war. Lately I bought the book "Battle Cry Of Freedom". In german of course, I have still to read (1000 pages).

Its a war still being fought today and in some regards the Federal government is losing.
Today down here you will here the word 'Heritage' used as to why white politicians support symbols of the Civil War [such as the Confederate Battle Flag flying in the SC state house square] but the use of that word is just a way to show support for the ideology that was driving the south during the war. This kind of 'heritage' is a way to propagate hate.
It is at the root of why President Obama is disliked. He represents a change in the demographics of America that certain portions of our country do not like... especially in the South.
