Description
All the elements i was looking for are finally here. This is a mixed media piece (watercolors, acrylics, color pencils, artstix, watersoluble wax pastels) on Stonehenge paper which is divine for mixed media works.
I made a vid of the process (while painting the ivy leaves) but now that the work is done i find it pointless to upload...Next time i will be more careful with the timing of things...
Still you can find progress uploaded here

She turned out so perfectly in the end my dear, the ivy leaves and the butterfly where the exact things she needed to complete this scene.
I just love the flow to all of her features, and especially how soft and delicate her hair looks. How you shaped the ivy leaves around her fits so well, and the one leaf tucked in the back is my favourite for how it gives dimension to everything. I also think that rainbow bit of colour in the right side is such a positive addition here. If that part was dark as well it would give this a completely different feel to it, and I think it's ideal this way.

yes i liked that one too after the latest addition of the ivy leaves, it was a necessary one to mix a bit of this and a bit of that regarding styles, and in the bottom line i can as well add a less realistic aspect with ONE element just to make the comparison interesting if it makes sense to you?
lets bring some Mucha in our lives

What really struck me was the dark outline around the ivy leaves in the foreground and how well that worked overall with this piece. There is a realistic/surrealistic play of things going on here that I find personally very appealing.

Yeah right, "occasionally".
I think most would agree that you do things right all the time, at least that's what I think.

The ivy and sweet butterfly seem to work as a frame for her lovely face! Since we can't see her body, I'm thinking she might be part plant-girl.
We've never heard of her because she lives in the dark forest to the left. I see you were able to coax her out! Lovely as always Sweetie!

Splendid !
Surprising from you, the black underlining of the ivy branch.

i underlined the ivy leaves on purpose. So to make them look less real.
Because if i show something that is not real then you will be able to compare it with something that IS real (her face)
jokes aside i dont know if there is a point in depicting everything in a painting in the same style. Maybe it wont be a bad idea to mix things as i go.. mix styles and ideas. And maybe bring a bit of Mucha in my life

I understand you very well. Maybe I fell like the black underlining is a bit too invading, and the green color a bit too flashy in front of the main and so beautiful realistic portrait. From that basis, I would personally have gone in this direction for the ivy leaves kosharik69.deviantart.com/art/… ( or other piece in her gallery with blurry "unfinished" borders with smoother colors around the central more realistic and colorful subject.
I hope you'll find no offense in my comment, just another feeling, another point of view.
Take care dear

how can i ever take offense by your comments? you are my friend, my artist companion
i knew her work ofc, and that is the point exactly, i wanted some not natural product in front of the "natural" face because some times mixing styles bring an interesting result
i know we have a different point of view but this doesn't mean that i don't respect yours highly
