Terrific costume! I love the attention to detail as well as the contrasting colors and textures. I can tell you spent a LOT of time and effort on this costume!
Suggestion: Have you thought about using part of a tesla sphere for the energy bolt? You could have the end of the device extending from your sleeve with the rest of the tesla coil hidden by the jacket. You would just need a small one (about the size of a tennis ball) for the effect with a pair of black plastic or plastic-coated metal rods to hold it in place much like your current device, and with the right electronics you could have it powered by a couple of nine-volt batteries. What do you think of the idea?
