Mituna sighed and laid his head on your shoulder. The two of you had been having talks every day of the week. You loved being able to help your friend through all of the troubles he was having, and sometimes, he would even help you.

“I’m just upset,” Mituna explained, “because no one likes me anymore. Not since the accident.”

You put an arm around you friend and squeezed him tightly. “Don’t say that, of course people like you!”

“But Cronus said that he doesn’t even want to be my friend anymore,” Mituna protested. “He says that I’m ‘different’ and he liked me the way I was before.”

You glanced down at him, hoping he could feel how much you cared about him from the look in your eyes. “Just because Cronus can’t accept your change doesn’t mean you two won’t patch things up sooner or later. Besides, even if you don’t have Cronus, you still have Latula. She tries so much to be like a lusus figure to you.”

“Yeah, but she bothers with me too much… every time I fall off my skateboard, she takes the whole day off to watch me. Then, she doesn’t get anything done and then she gets angry…”

You rested your head on his mustard yellow helmet. “Well, you know that you’ll always have me.”

Mituna chuckled and shook his helmet so you’d move your head. The two of you laughed together for a moment. It reminded you of old times together, but you didn’t want to say that. You didn’t want to upset your friend after you had just made him feel better.

There was a shout from the kitchen. “Mituna, I made you your favorite lunch! Hell yeah!” It was Latula.

You and Mituna shared eye contact for a moment. Well, eye-to-helmet contact. Without warning, he leaned over and kissed you on the cheek.

You blinked, unsure of how to react. You could tell that your face was heating up, as was his. After another moment, Mituna stood up. “I’ve got to go eat lunch. I’ll see you around.”

“MITUNA, IF I HAVE TO YELL FOR YOU AGAIN, WE ARE NOT GOING SKATEBOARDING TODAY!”

“SHIT, I’M COMING!”

Mituna ran off to the kitchen, leaving you confused, yet happy.

You lightly touched your cheek with your fingertips. You couldn’t believe it, but Mituna actually liked you. He liked you enough to hang out with, tell you about his problems, and even kiss your cheek. You wanted to express your feelings as well...

...but you wanted to stay like this for just a bit longer.
