Shadowpool's story

Prologue

It was a quiet summer night. Birds chirped and wind blew quietly through trees and bushes. In a large, hollow log near Shadowclan territory laid a young, small she-cat who had a white and gray fur and amber eyes. A tiny, dark tortoiseshell kitten laid next to the she- cat. The kitten was born earlier that night and it squirmed while her mother licked her.
When sun started to rise a large, tortoiseshell tom sneaked out from Shadowclan camp and headed towards Shadowclan's border. When he arrived to his mate's den, the first thing he saw was his newborn daughter. " Sandclaw! Come closer to meet your daughter", the gray and white she-cat whose name was Snowflake mewed happily. " Was she born last night?", Sandclaw asked. " Yes, she was. What name we should give her? " Snowflake asked. " Shadow would be a good name for her. It suits her pelt color. ", Sandclaw replied. " It's a beautiful name. Her name will be then Shadow. ", Snowflake said while cleaning her daughters head. " I have thought that I and our daughter should join Shadowclan. When leafbare comes, there could be more food and shelter for me and my kit and she could become a real warrior someday. " Snowflake said thoughtfully to her mate. " Yes, you can join Shadowclan someday but not now. " Sandclaw sighed with a worried look in his face. " Why? Have something bad happened? "
" It's our new leader, Brokenstar. He doesn't follow the warrior code at all. He will make Shadow an apprentice at two or three moons old although apprentices should be six moons old. Stay here until she turns six moons. " , Sandclaw told. " I understand. I'll do what is best for her. " Snowflake replied. Shadow stopped crawling around and fell asleep beside her mother's belly. " I have to go now. " , Sandclaw said. " See you soon! " The tortoiseshell tom stepped out of Snowflake's den and disappeared into the shady forest. Snowflake watched as Shadow slept peacefully beside her belly. Her head was full of anxious thoughts. " What kind of a leader Brokenstar is if he doesn't follow the warrior code? What if something bad happens to Shadow when she joins Shadowclan? ", Snowflake thought worriedly. She hoped that Shadow's future would be good and her life would be carefree and safe. But something told Snowflake that Shadow's future wouldn't be that good.
