Winter Formal was getting closer and closer. You had your dress picked out, and decided on what hairstyle you'd like. Walking through the halls, it was all you could hear people talking about, especially the girls. Gossip of who would be going with whom, and talk of what they would be wearing. You noticed that many of the girls were going to go with short, revealing dresses. Not your style. Still, some of them insisted that long dresses would be best, which made you feel less alienated.

"Just a couple more days" you thought to yourself. Having a date this year encouraged your excitement. Ludwig is going to look so handsome... shaking the thought from your head, you rushed to class. This wasn't the time to think of such things.

-Time Skip-

It was the night of the Formal. Rushing to do some last second preparations you heard a car pull up into your driveway. That must be Ludwig. He only used his car for special occasions, or long distances. He loved to baby it.

Grabbing something to eat, you shoved a biscuit into your mouth as the doorbell rang. Pulling open the door, you greeted your date.

"H-hello!" you finished swallowing the biscuit before talking. Your (h/c) hair fell gracefully along your face, and your snow-white dress hung perfectly from your body. A light pink dusted your cheeks, and your lips were faintly tinted red by lip gloss.

"H-Hallo, a-are you ready?" Ludwig couldn't take his eyes off of you, and it was vise-versa for you. He wore a black blazer over a white dress shirt with a neat tie and pressed dress pants. His hair was slicked back even more carefully then usual, and he looked dashing.

You nodded, and shouted to your mom that you were now leaving. Stepping outside, Ludwig opened the passenger's side door for you. Slipping in the car, you let yourself finally breath. Ludwig slid into the driver's side and started up the car. Backing out of the driveway, you were on your way.

-Time Skip-

The two of you danced for quite some time before taking a break for water. Stepping outside, the two of you talked over the din of music and the voices of fellow classmates. You were having a wonderful time, and the dance was only half way over. You had already slow danced with Ludwig twice, and each time the two of you would glow so brightly red that you were sure that everyone noticed.

"I'm going to go get us some more water" Ludwig excused himself. You waited next to the fountain not too far from the entrance of the gym. Bad idea. As your luck would have it, the group of girls whom you'd had trouble with in the past were sitting on the other side of the fountain. They were laughing at their own jokes, and you decided to sit still and wait until Ludwig came back for you. As long as they didn't notice you, you would be fine.

Suddenly things went quiet behind you. The only noise from the group was a few harsh whispers. Then the sound of people getting to their feet and high heels on concrete.

"Ohh, look who got all dressed up" one of them teased "so, are you having fun stealing Ludwig away? I'm sure he's going to dump you soon"

"Because why would someone like him want to be near someone like you?" chimed another girl "Your hair looks awful. Maybe we should help you with it?"

"Good idea!" said the first girl, reaching for your head. You shielded your hair with both of your arms, but a third girl grabbed the other side of your head and pulled.

"Have you even ever heard of conditioner?" she pushed back and the pressure from her pulling was released.

"Just leave me alone, I didn't do anything" you spoke up, getting to your feet.

"You didn't do anything?! HA! What a joke" Suddenly you were pushed back, and you lost balance. Feeling the smack of concrete, and something ice cold, you froze in pain. They pushed you in the fountain!

Your hair and your dress was ruined. You were furious.

"Ludwig would hate people like you! He only likes nice people, and you're monsters! If-if he saw what you just did, he'd never want to be near you!" your eyes began to tear up "And how could you even say I stole him? You weren't even friends with him to begin with. You don't even know him, other then his name!" your eyes burned with hatred. Before you could yell again the girls backed up. Ludwig came into view and the three looked terrified.

"____! Are you alright?" he rushed over and pulled you up from the fountain.

"I'm fine... I'm fine" your arm hurt and you were cold, but you would be alright. You were able to stand up for yourself, and it felt good.

"You're going to freeze" he said as he pulled off his blazer and wrapped it around your shoulders. He then wrapped his arms around you, and before turning to walk you inside to the bathrooms he glared at the three girls who did this to you. In that moment they knew that all of their chances with the kind, handsome man were forever lost.

Ludwig walked you into the gym and lead you over to the bathrooms so that you can attempt to dry yourself. When you came back out, you were a bit more dry, but not by much.

"Do you want to go home..?" he questioned.

"No, I think as long as I stay inside I'll be fine" you smiled. There was a bruise on your arm, but he didn't take notice. "How about e dance again?"

The two of you danced for a while longer, and the final song came on. One last slow dance.

"May I?" Ludwig held out his hand to you, his face as red as a tomato.

"I'm all wet, you'll get wet to you know"

"That's alright"

You grabbed his hand, and the two of you drew closer together. This one song seemed to last an eternity, but you didn't mind. You liked it here in his arms, even if you were covered in water.

The song came to a close, and you looked up at Ludwig. Deciding to be brave, you gave him a little kiss on the cheek.

"That's for being so amazing" you said blushing. He just smiled.

"Well, it looks like it's time to go home" he led you out of the gym and back to the car. When you got home, he walked you to your door.

"Um" he started to speak, "Thank you for a wonderful night" he kissed your forehead, and nodded his goodbye.
