This Chapter is in Your P.O.V.
(This story is based of of this One-Shot )
Fact: A Pharaoh has Five names; one is his birth name, and four are given to him at his coronation.
Nothing.
That's all that I can see, feel, touch, smell and hear; floating in a void of nothingness for all eternity. Is this to be my fate? Surely not. I hope not. There must be something more for me out there, as I have this feeling of being needed somewhere; not in this time, but...later. Much, much later. How is this feeling even accessible? I have hardly any memories of my life anymore; it feels like my life energy is leaving my body, and is being sucked up into a sandstorm. However, the one memory that remains clear to me, is of that day. Where my ending became a new beginning instead, and I was granted another chance at living life to the fullest.
~~~~~~
'Halt! I said halt!,' I heard as I kept running away from my possible fate; what had I done? I stole some bread. Can you really blame me? Surviving on the streets of Egypt was not at all pleasant. People starved to death every day due to lack of food, and I was quick and smart enough to avoid the guards; so why turn down this opportunity? So far so good. I have never been caught while on a bread run before, and I doubt that this time would be any different. Those guards will just give up eventually, and let me go; why is that you ask? Because catching me was like trying to catch lightning, as it simply cannot be done. Well at least not yet. I soon turned my attention back to running; but as soon as I turned a corner, more guards had spotted me. I was cornered. Cursing under my breath, I looked around quickly for any possible means of escape. There was a rope ladder leading to a roof. Thank the gods. I grasped the rope ladder without a second thought, and started climbing; the guards tried to follow me, but they were much too heavy. I smirked in victory, and continued to climb up the makeshift ladder. However, once I made it to the top, I had nothing to climb back down with; my mind was racing with possible ideas, but then my sight met with a clothes-line attached to a balcony. It will have to do. Walking over to the edge of the roof, I swung both my legs over and slid myself off; I landed on the balcony, and didn't break anything. So far everything is going my way, I told myself proudly. I gripped the line tightly, and began to work my way across the thin line; one thing struck me when I was half-way through though, there was a ripping sound. Panicking, I tried to go faster and ignore the tearing as much as possible so I wouldn't mess up; these attempts were all in vain. My body plunged violently to the ground once the line gave up; leaving me in one of the most scariest positions of all time. I had just fallen in front of the Pharaoh. Gulping nervously, I instantly bowed my head like I was kissing the ground; I was dead, surely the Pharaoh will kill me now right? Wrong. I heard an authoritative voice say 'stop', and the chariot as well as the priests had stopped. Right in front of me. Inhaling some air in a bit of a panic, I froze exactly where I was. I didn't dare move. However, the next thing that happened really surprised me; 'what is your name?' I heard the Pharaoh say. Really? He really wishes to know my name? Not moving at all from my position on the ground, I simply replied 'My name is -------- my Pharaoh,' to which he responded with a hand on my shoulder; 'you are coming with me' he said, to which I felt fingers under my chin; he lifted my head so I could stare into his beautiful violet eyes. He smiled, but what he said next shocked me even more; 'and please, call me Atem.'
~~~~~~
I can't even remember my real name. It's almost as if my real name has been hidden from me for a reason; does it contain secrets that I need to unlock in time? I now wondered exactly who 'Atem' was, and why I was treated so kindly by him. It's not everyday that a Pharaoh smiles at you and tells you to call him by his real name other than 'your highness' or 'my pharaoh'. There is a problem, the one thing I have to go on are his eyes; it's the only defining feature that I remember about him. Nothing else. It's all gone. Then I could see a bright white light coming straight towards me. I tried to move, but my body won't listen to me and stayed put; strangely, I felt a sense of calmness with that light and I knowingly smiled. It's Ra's light, I'm in safe hands. With that last thought lingering, I was now in a breath-taking room; my vision then landed on all of the gods sitting in a circular setup, each on their respective thrones. I bowed in respect; after that Ra then spoke with a booming voice that had it been angry, would have been terrifying "I grant you a chance to be on this Earth once more; should you fail, the world shall turn to ruin." I gained the courage to speak again; "what must I do to accomplish what you speak of?", to which Ra just looked at me and stated "you will know in time." That's the last thing I remember before everything going black again. Another chance? What did Ra mean by 'another chance on this Earth?', will I have the chance to live again?
I will just have to find out.
