Description
Sebastian's lips hugged yours softly, and you smiled into the kiss. You felt him smile too, and you both pulled apart slowly, smiling at each other with satisfaction. He stroked your (h/c) locks, looking into your eyes through his half-closed, relaxed ones. Sebastian had never met anyone like you on this world, and the connection he felt between the two of you had begun as soon as you locked eyes. He had a feeling you didn't know the reason, however, and felt it best he keep it from you as long as he needed.You snuggled closer to him, and in turn he wrapped his arms around you in a loving embrace, resting his forehead on yours. You felt tired all of a sudden, closing your eyes as your mind and body relaxed. You felt... safe. Like this was meant to happen... or was it just your flurry of emotions finally resting? The thought sent you into a deep sleep, and Sebastian, still holding you, sighed softly.
"I cannot tell her. Not yet." He whispered to himself, kissing your forehead lightly before his crimson eyes closed, and he too fell asleep.
~~~
You awoke the next morning to find you were alone in the kingsize bed. You glanced at the clock, which read 8:15. Had it all been a dream? You rubbed your eyes and sat up, sighing heavily. It was too perfect to be real. You cupped your head in your hands. As you straightened up, ruffling your hair, something caught your eye. Sebastian's clothes were still sitting neatly folded on your nightstand.
"Good morning, Kitten." A smooth, low voice cooed from your bathroom door. You snapped your gaze round in shock, and saw that handsome butler standing in the doorway, a towel draped over his shoulder. His raven hair was wet, and small water droplets ran down his bare torso. He had his black suit trousers on, and wore a smile on his face that just made you swoon.
"Good morning, Sebastian." You smiled, it wasn't a dream after all.
"Did you sleep well?" He asked, walking towards you and sitting on top of the duvet at your feet.
"Very well, strangely..." You said, a look of confusion crossing your face before you shook your head, remembering all those sleepless nights.
"Strangely, my love?" He questioned, placing a hand on your leg as he towel-dried his silky black locks. You sighed.
"I don't sleep very well. Last night was the best night sleep I've had since I can remember..." You trailed off, silently betting you slept so well because Sebastian was next to you.
"I shall just have to sleep next to you more often then, my dear." He proclaimed. A blush grew on your cheeks, as you smiled sheepishly. Your smile faded soon enough.
"I have to leave in two days Sebastian." You replied. "I can't stay here forever... as much as I'd love to, I have my parent's mansion to help maintain up north..." You trailed off, a lump forming in your throat. You wanted to stay here with Ciel, Finny, Mey-Rin, Baldroy and... Sebastian more than anything. You lived over two hundred miles away, it would be impossible to visit often even if you wanted to.
"My darling..." He sighed and cupped your cheek as a tear escaped your eye. "There are ways. Please do not think about it, we will see each other again even if you have to leave so soon." He continued, his own smile fading. He leaned forward and kissed your cheek, before standing up and withdrawing his hand. "I am afraid I must go, I need to prepare the Master's breakfast, he will awaken shortly." He said with a sigh, before pulling on his shirt and waistcoat. You stood up and silently picked up his tie, before tying it around his collar perfectly and buttoning up his waistcoat. He stood there and smiled at you, and when you were finished he picked up his tailcoat and buttoned it around himself, slipping his silver pocketwatch into the pocket. "Thank you, my Kitten. If I do not see you before, I will see you tonight."
You blushed and couldn't help but smile as he pecked your lips before opening your bedroom door to leave. "I will send Mey-Rin to help you with your dress in a short while. Please smile, I find you are most beautiful when you do." With that, Sebastian closed the door and you were on your own again.
After your shower, you wrapped yourself in a towel and walked over to the closet. Opening it, you saw the most beautiful black and red dress, with lace trims and matching fingerless gloves that stopped at the elbow. The red was an exact match to Sebastian's eyes, and you blushed, beaming at the gift. Upon taking it out, a small piece of paper floated to the floor. Carefully laying the dress on the bed, you picked it up and saw that it was a note, which read;
My Kitten.
This is a gift, it would make me very happy to see you wear it.
-Sebastian
As if on cue, someone knocked on your door. Realizing you were still only wrapped in a towel, you called out. "Who is it?"
"It's Mey-Rin, Miss. Sebastian sent me to help you with your dress, may I come in?" You smiled. That's why he said he'd send her. He had already chosen your outfit for you.
"Yes, please come in." You replied, and the maid stumbled in, tripping over her shoes. "Are you alright?!" You gasped.
"I'm fine Miss, thank you..! I just tripped, I did..." She stuttered, her head bowed. "Anyway, about that dress!" She said, searching your room before she noticed the gorgeous black and red material draped over your bed. She looked stunned as she picked it up. "Miss... This is... it's beautiful..." She trailed off in awe, before shaking her head and snapping out of it. "Let's get you into it!" She grinned, and you nodded in agreement.
~~~
It was 3:25 in the afternoon, and once again, you found yourself in the garden. Finny had decided it would be today that he gave you the grand tour of the gardens, and it had taken nearly two hours because he stopped to explain how he did things and ended up getting caught in general conversation. You heard a bark, and looked around to see where it came from.
"There's a dog here?" Your eyes lit up, you loved animals.
"Yes Miss! I'll call him for you, I'm sure Pluto would love to meet you!" He smiled and pursed his lips, emitting a high pitched whistle. The ground started to shake, and you looked at the grinning gardener in horror.
"Finny... what-" A loud bark cut you off, and you spun around to see a huge, white dog running towards you at full speed. Your jaw nearly dropped, the massive hound showed no signs of stopping, and your face drained of colour. "Pluto?! Down boy! Sit! SIT!" You shouted, bracing yourself with your arms as you were about to be trampled. The ground stopped shaking, and the fast breathing of the giant dog blew your hair. You looked up cautiously from behind your arms, only to see the dog sitting in front of you with his head cocked to the side, his tail wagging.
Finny stared at you in shock. "Miss... how did you do that? He doesn't sit for anyone... aside Sebastian of course." He stated, before sighing happily. "You must have a thing with dogs!" He said laughing.
"...It is actually a dog?" You questioned, not taking your eyes off of it.
"Of course! We all call him a demon hound though. He's actually quite charming when you get used to him!" He smiled widely, scratching the back of his neck.
"Well he's um... certainly..." You couldn't find the words to say. Luckily, Finny spoke instead.
"The Master and Sebastian are headed this way... oh no, I bet Pluto disturbed the Master or something... I am in so much trouble!" Finny hung his head and ran his fingers through his hair. You turned around and caught sight of your friend and Sebastian, and almost got excited until you saw the look on their faces. They looked... upset...
~~~
"I really don't want to have to tell her this." Ciel murmured, crumpling the letter in his hand a little. "I don't believe it..." He said solemnly. Sebastian nodded.
"Indeed, Master. It is quite depressing... but you are her dearest friend, it will be better coming from you." Sebastian sighed and rubbed his temple.
"Sebastian I don't see how anything could make this better." Ciel snapped, the letter once again crumpling as his hands balled into fists. "This will not go well." He sighed heavily before he smiled sympathetically at you. "(Name). I need you to come with me to my study, please." Sebastian shot you a pained look, you knew whatever was about to be said, was not good.
~~~
You sat down next to Ciel in his study, and looked at him, confused.
"(Name)..." He began, as Sebastian stood behind you and discreetly put a comforting hand on your back. "I'm about to tell you something, and you are not going to like it." He sighed and blinked, hard.
"What is it, Ciel?" You asked, concerned.
"I'm going to ask you not to leave this manor." He began.
"Wha-"
"You cannot return home the day after tomorrow. (Name), it pains me to be the one to tell you this..." He took your hand in his and gripped it tightly. Sebastian rubbed his thumb across your back.
"What do you mean I can't go home?" You asked, your heart pounding.
"There is no home for you to go to." He revealed. "Your parents mansion..." He hesitated. "I just received the letter this morning, it's dated as yesterday." He sighed and stroked your hand, giving you the letter. "I'm so sorry, (Name)."
You looked at it through shocked eyes, and read it to yourself.
Earl Phantomhive
We understand that (Name)(Lastname) is staying with you at the moment. It is with heavy heart that we inform you that last night, her parent's mansion caught fire and has burned to the ground.
Both Lord and Lady (Lastname)'s bodies were recovered at the scene. Both are deceased.
We are investigating into the cause of the devastation, however there is almost nothing to collect evidence from.
We will send word if we hear of anything else.
Sincerely
D. Prior
You looked away from the letter, in shock. Both are deceased. Your whole body was shaking, but you felt nothing. Bodies... You started hyperventilating as your vision blurred, and you heard the muffled sounds of Sebastian and Ciel shouting your name. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head, then everything was black.
Your parents... were dead.
