During the last half of the 1800's, the Aisinean empire grew its interest in the Nemalquinner coast. Many Kannamese migrated to Ackacqua due to the inevitable fall of their economy and the everyday harsher lives in the empire. A lot of these people were relocated in Skabaps island by the Tomonese controlled Ackacquan colonial government, and by the time the Aisinean royal family saw collapse as imminent, they slowly transferred their goods to Skabaps until the revolution started and only a few were able to escape there.
Skamokawa was annexed alongside the rest of Ackacqua but bursted in revolution before the rest of the country, with a full scale plan organized by the royal family to gain control of their own country, the true successor of the Aisinean empire.
They're neighbors in geography as well as in national revolution day with Ackacqua.
There was an attempt to both transfer statehood and fuse the states but the fact that Manaban was established as a Republic thanks to Tomon made things more complicated.
The effort to transfer the statehood of Skabaps from Chushenkong island to Manaban happened even from before there was an established government on the mainland Manaisene territory. The royal family acted too slowly and Manaban felt abandoned but still respects Skamokawa.
The traditional culture of Skamokawa is Manaisene at its core, fused with Hua culture but the most modern culture comes from Ackacqua.
Being a small island it can't produce many natural resources so it relies on historical tourism and military and naval investments from Tomon which are harshly cut every year thanks to the always excellent relationship between them and Ackacqua.
Besides that, there's an increasingly growing comic culture. In fact, Skomkawa holds one of the largest "cons" in Amialia.
The national flag has blue, to represent the sea the Skabaps island is surrounded by and also the Ackacquan culture, yellow is the representative color for the Manaisene and red comes frmo the Kannamese flag.
The national flag reads:
Sk’áwaan (Salmonberry in the local Hataii language)
Šungga (ilha, means osmanthus, a flower commonly related to the Manaisene)
And
Tsaa⁴sy⁶ (or Chashu, the teatree, ubiquitous in Kannam)
All mended together in Baguanese script
Skamokawa itself means ‘’Smoke on the water’’, in Micanaiscum as a reference to how foggy waters can be near the Chucquinnum Bay!
