Description
Chrono Trigger is the best game EVAR. I played it AT LEAST 50 times each, both the Japanese and English versions, on the SNES, emulators, Playstation, and now I wanna get it for my DS.So much love I have for this game!
And yeah, when I was fifteen, I'd come straight home from school, play CT until 1-2 am and wake up at 5-6 am to play again before I have to get ready for school. I was OBSESSED.
It was a good thing that my school didn't believe in homework, and that I was the type who just remembers stuff from the lectures instead of studying.
ANYWAY! If you love Chrono Trigger you should do this too! Thanks to for making it ^_^ Get the clean meme here: [link]

I didn't ever get around to playing Chrono Trigger until this year on the DS. I was... unimpressed. I can link you to my review if you're curious.

Probably because you've already gone through the newer games. I played Chrono Trigger when it was first released, and for its time it was definitely something else. And I understand how it can be lackluster compared to games of today, but people who played it back then carry the nostalgia in their hearts

I moreso played FF4 when it first came out, and the recent DS remake blew me the hell away with nostalgia, but it had the added bonus of new graphics and gameplay.
The Chrono Trigger one was just a rehash. Quite a shame after Square put the kibosh on the fanmade 3Dmake of it.
Anywho, you can see my posts from my playthrough here. (dated from the bottom up) [link]

I didn't mind it being simply a rehash since I have more of a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it attitude" towards it. Sure, the new cutscenes and bonus menus were great, but I would have bought it even if it was exactly how it was when it first came out. Mostly because I just wanted to be able to play it on whatever console I had at the moment.

I suppose that's what SNEmulDS, Flash carts, and roms are for.

It's always more fun on a console and done legally Buying the game shows support to the developers, yes?

True, but in all honesty, wouldn't you have preferred an all new game with the same characters, perhaps in the sense of a sequel?

I would have loved a sequel with the original characters, yes, but that doesn't negate the fact that I still want a copy of the original game.
I mean, that's the same reason why there are DVD releases of old classic movies -- because people want to be able to watch their old favorites without having to look for a working Betamax from the 80's. I think it applies to games too.

Is it just me or did the DS version seem easier than the SNES?

I think it's simply the fact that you're all too familiar with the game that you can breeze through it already. At least, that's what I think!

That could be it...I remember my second time playing FF7, I avoided battle as much as possible and somehow got all through the temple of the ancients and the highest level of any of the characters was 32 when I left it.

Ihonestly think I liked chrono cross better...but I DID have much MUCH love for trigger.
I always thought it was just badass that he floated everywhere instead of walked, and looked so evil and contemptuous!

I thought Chrono Cross was an absolutely gorgeous game. The character and world designs were spectacular and the music was divine. I do have a special place in my heart for it too!
Haha I loved that about Magus too!
