Description
Tate's hyena companion Cackler is a little complicated. Psychopathic, destructive, and crazy are three ways to explain his personality. More often than not, Cackler's destructive antics get others(mostly Stegz) in trouble. He doesn't mean to do it, though. It's usually the result of unexplained coincidences. Cackler is still Tate's friend, and that's all anyone needs to know. It's easy to compromise with him, like letting him destroy 1/4 of Canada.
Personality
Cackler is destructive, maniacal, and crazy in every sense. He enjoys wreaking havoc and causing destruction at any given opportunity. More often than not, his interest in wanton destruction has caused very deep concern about his psyche. Cackler frequently gets others in trouble for his actions, even though that isn't his intention.
Cackler is a bit of a scatterbrain and always has his head in the clouds. He's always thinking about something else and doesn't always display common sense, but he isn't stupid at the same time. What Cackler pictures in his mind is confusing and sometimes doesn't need to be known.
Despite his craziness, Cackler isn't without kindness. When wreaking havoc or destruction, he modifies his plans, so innocent lives are not hurt. He's also willing to compromise and work things out with others. His sense of self-control is unparalleled, as shown when he went a full day without getting Stegz in trouble(even though Bad Rap got in trouble in the end).
Background
Cackler lives in a different region of Solstice Grounds filled with prairies and plains. His destructive and wild nature made others nervous about going near him, so he never had any friends. That changed when he met Tate, who didn't hesitate to work something out with him. The two of them have become great friends to that day, even though Cackler's antics tend to get a bit out of hand.
One week after Tate discovered the Drive Meter, he and Hilary were invited to see the Grey Core Energy being shown in Colorado. Chief gave Cackler and the other animals a substitute tour after accidentally stowing away. When the tour reached the research area, Cackler accidentally activated the control panel for the Yellow Ore. The result was the ore's energy leaking out and blasting the animals, an event that they refer to as "The Day Cackler Almost Killed Them." When the animals woke up, they discovered that the Yellow Ore's energy had altered their DNA and given them special genetic abilities. Cackler and the other animals use their newfound abilities to help Tate on missions.
Powers and Abilities
Cackler is a talented scavenger. His survival skills help him and his friends get out of sticky situations. He knows where to find food and places to rest from experience.
Being a hyena, Cackler has very powerful jaws and teeth. He can crunch objects like raw meat and not feel a toothache. His increased jaw strength makes it difficult to escape Cackler's grip.
Cackler's genetic power allows him to induce mass vertigo in numerous enemies. He can distort a person's senses and make it difficult for them to think. His vertigo ability lets him render his enemies unconscious or disorient them into submission. Cackler's power can even cause nausea and dizziness. His eyes glow dark purple when using his power.
Cackler displays a natural talent for destruction and disarray. He displays great skill in anything that involves destroying something. His natural intuition for mayhem and anarchy has helped him and his friends at times, even when it ends with someone getting in trouble for his actions.
Relationships
Tate Nolan
Tate and Cackler get along well and care about each other as friends. Cackler tries not to get into too much trouble at Tate’s request. The two know how to compromise and work something out.
Elmer
Elmer is Cackler’s best friend, despite their contrasting traits. Elmer shows chagrin towards Cackler’s wanton mayhem but tolerates it. The two genuinely care about each other and go out of their way to help each other when they’re in danger.
Stegz
Stegz isn’t very fond of Cackler due to him frequently getting him in trouble. Cackler tries his hardest not to get Stegz in any serious trouble, though the unexplained coincidences that follow his actions make that difficult. Stegz usually contacts Tate and tells him to do a better job keeping his friend out of trouble. Despite the chagrin, he does care about Cackler and respects his friendship with Tate.
T-Bone
T-Bone isn’t all that fond of Cackler, but is usually more tolerant about it. He’s usually the one who calls Tate whenever Cackler gets Stegz in trouble. Cackler rarely gets T-Bone in trouble with his antics, showing he harbors respect for him.
Bio
Saying Cackler is an oddball would be a huge understatement. He practically invented the term "wild card!" He's always looking for ways to wreak havoc whenever the opportunity arises or if he is bored. It's no surprise that others(mostly Stegz) get in trouble for anything he does. But despite his wild habits, there's nothing Cackler won't destroy for his friends. His power will leave you without your bearings; he can induce mass vertigo in his target and weaken their grip on their senses. If Cackler starts a mass basketball riot, you can be sure someone else takes the fall for it.
