Description Commissioned by me from arabatos a few months ago, this was partly the result of me re-reading simpspin 's "Simpson: Generations" comic. I luuuurve the lovey-dovey expressions they all have, especially the girls.
In that comic, a 13-year old Maggie and her younger brother, Eric (10 iirc), accidentally fall back through time to the present day.

This picture has nothing to do with that directly, but I did borrow simpspin 's previous design for teen-Maggie (should've asked him in advance, but thanks to Simpspin for not getting angry that I didn't), and the idea of all the Simpsons meeting up in time and messing up their family's past.

Yes, somehow, all this alteration to the past has not caused any problems with the existences of Bart, Lisa, OR Maggie up in the tree. However Bart and young Marge Bouvier have fallen for each other, as have young Homer Simpson and Lisa Simpson. The young versions of the parents don't know that they're in love with their future kids, and quite frankly no-one else in the scene wants to tell them for their own reasons.

I was going to write this into a fanfic (I like time travel), but...well, it could still happen someday.

EDIT (several years later): The fic already exists, and it's here on dA! fav.me/ddli1el

Design of future Maggie is © simpspin

No, they didn't have anything on them when they got into Frink's time machine, and they certainly weren't expecting to get accidentally stuck in the past. Indeed, when they first meet their parents in the story, they introduce themselves to their young parents with the fake surname Shepard.

I see. I do wonder how Bart was able to charm Marge into a kiss, but thinking about it, Bart is quite the charmer...

So, about Flanders, would Ned be one of Homer's friends or would that still be a love-hate friendship in this timeline?

Yet-One-More-Idiot In reply to Riolu423 [2014-09-05 12:07:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, Bart can be rather the charmer when he puts his mind to it. Perhaps you should read the full story I commissioned? It used to be hosted on Hentai-Foundry, but it got wiped in the great loli/shota purge a few weeks back. I'll send you a d/l in a note.

Homer and Flanders, friends? Sure, Bart and Lisa altered history, but I doubt any amount of temporal tampering could make those two good friends. Nah, they're still a love-hate friendship, Homer just naturally dislikes "stupid sexy Flanders". xD

There's the biggest enigma of today: how on Earth can Flanders forgive and turn the other cheek when it comes to Homer and his actions? I doubt even the saintliest of men have that kind of patience that Ned has... but even he has a breaking point. Furthermore, I am currently reading your commission.

By the way, remember Homer and Marge's wedding tape in the Simpsons Movie? Well, if my guess is sound in logic, the events of the movie probably won't take place in this timeline, and the wedding video (if Marge and Bart ever do marry) would be about Marge and Bart instead.

Yeah, Flanders' personality has become almost a charicature of itself over the years. He has, as the phrase has been coined about him, been "flanderized". xD True, no real person could put up with living next to someone like canon!Homer for long without wanting to murder him.

I hope you enjoy my commish.

Ah yes, their wedding video in the movie. Yes, in the new timeline they've moved into, there'll be a different wedding (and wedding video) between Bart and Marge; and one between Homer and Lisa, too. Or maybe a double wedding?

Riolu423 In reply to Yet-One-More-Idiot [2014-09-05 12:53:53 +0000 UTC]

Heck, a simultaneous wedding wouldn't be utterly nonsensical. Granted, an event like that is quite rare, two weddings occurring in the same church or wherever, at the same date taking place in conjunction with another wedding.

I can even paint the picture in my head, or at least to the point of the wedding video, the two couples dancing to that song, (They Long To Be) Close to You, followed up with an older Marge telling an older Bart, "I love you." and Homer telling Lisa the same. The thing that comes up next is the kiss between the newlyweds, and I never did ask about Maggie.

Yeah! I'm getting the urge to commission their a scene of their joint wedding now! But I have other commissions I want to do first that aren't Simpson-related. Maybe next year.

Ah, about Maggie? Well, in my head she kinda took Frink's time machine for a joyride back from the future of this timeline, just so she could enjoy watching how her parents get together. This is not the Maggie from Bart and Lisa's original timeline.

I'm sure it'll be worth waiting for. I guess it's easier to paint a mental image than it is to draw an actual commission and color it in on paper, yes?

Yeah. Easier to imagine than it is to pay for it, too.

If only having the power to transfer mental imagery onto paper, right down to the exact details, were possible, things like pencils, pens, and digital art programs wouldn't be necessary... perhaps for editing, maybe. I guess that would also help with commissions?

Yet-One-More-Idiot In reply to Riolu423 [2014-09-06 23:21:11 +0000 UTC]

Heheh, that is so true. A major part of the reason why I commission so many pics is because I'm a terrible artist. If I could produce my own art, I'd probably still commission stuff, but I'd also create some ideas myself. Particularly, I'd draw reference image designs of my characters for other artists to work from when I commission them to make something with those characters. Rather than just giving the artist a(n admittedly quite detailed) description.

P.S., I'm not even a good drawer, either. I've had a couple of art classes in high school, and I still can't draw worth of beans. I'm thinking of trying it out, to be honest.

Oh yes! I meant to say, I read your story this morning. It was cute, very well written - a lovely scene between Bart "Shepard" and Marge. I think you got a handle on the characters really well there. I take it you've read the whole of my commissioned story?

You should post your ficlet; you can link back to my art commission so viewers will know what it's going on about.

Ehehe... and I rarely partake in the writing of fanfiction. The fact that I study a character carefully helps me... I just gotta make a few grammar tweaks, add a bit more detail, and I'll link it. And, prepare to be surprised, I only read some parts of that commissioned fanfic... I went with writing that on nothing but chance.

Well, if you didn't read all of my commish fic, you did an even better job with your piece. You should read the whole of my story though, just for the enjoyment of it; no need to rush though, I know it's quite long.

I can offer you a tip: "power of observation". As I said, I harness observation to study a character thoroughly. Personality, what they do, their thinking patterns, what they would say in a particular situation... all that stuff.

I must say, I find the pairing of Bart and Marge to be the most plausible, given their on screen relationship. I feel like if Lisa dated Homer he would end up driving her crazy with his silly and scatterbrained shenanigans, I don't think that relationship would last long. But who knows? Lisa may turn out to be as forgiving/understanding as her mother, and Homer always seems to come through in the end, so I don't doubt the possibility. Homer is kind of an idiot savant in that sense.

All-in-all, I too love there loving expressions, and how Maggie seems to approve of the situation. Oh, Maggie, you mischievous little girl you, did you think this all up? I wouldn't put it past her xD

Yet-One-More-Idiot In reply to 280077s [2014-01-10 22:38:32 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for your lovely, well-thought-out comments.

Ah well, I shall by mentioning that there is actually a fanfic that I commissioned based off of this picture, in which Bart and Lisa go back in time (they stole Frink's time machine experiment) and become trapped there, so they make new lives for themselves and end up unexpectedly falling in love with their own parents. Maggie makes no appearances in that fic sadly. But it's a good read, and you can find it at my Hentai-Foundry account (same name as I am here).

Yes, Bart and Lisa make a surprisingly good - and cute - couple. Marge's good girl personality nicely offsets Bart's sometimes bad-boy attitude, especially as in the aforementioned fic, he does settle down and start getting good grades, and becomes much better behaved - mostly because he no longer has other kids egging him on to be bad, he has the attentions of a nice girl, and because he doesn't have violent TV/videogames to distract him.

Lisa and Homer, though, I think would work for the same reasons. Lisa is quite like her mother in terms of being a good, studious girl, and Homer isn't even a bad boy, he's just not quite so bright as some others. In the story I commissioned, they meet shortly after his mother dissappeared (having gone on the run from the police) and his belief that his mother is dead leads to him being depressed, losing interest in school and falling behind, and eventually to completely not caring about his education and ending up flunking out, etc etc. But meeting Lisa helps to break him out of this slow downward spiral and he does not end up becoming the somewhat ignorant, emotionally-stunted slob we know and, erm....I'm gonna say "love". In short, both girls help make their boyfriends into better people.

I cannot recommend this story enough, actually - and not just 'cos I commissioned it. The author, Lennox, did a wonderful job making all the characters quite well-rounded as people, as well as showing the development of both relationships, and the internal conflicts of Bart and Lisa as they realise they're falling in love with their parents (except they aren't their parents...yet; kinda). Fair warning, there's a sex scene in the third chapter though, which also counts as underage incest 'cos of the pairings. xD I can't include a link here though, as dA software censors all attempts to link to Hentai-Foundry and other adult sites.

I simply adore Marge's design and is frankly one of the most imaginative and thought provoking simpsons artwork I've ever had the privilege of seeing. I really wish The Simpsons writers had the guts to do a season or so of exploring such an idea, particularly before the show went downhill. The creative possibilities of such a sceneario is endless i.e. Bart meeting young Sideshow Bob, Marge helping Bart fitting into school and Lisa comforting Homer when his mother leaves him etc.

Yet-One-More-Idiot In reply to superdavis [2012-05-25 20:27:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, this is a really cute (if somewhat unusual) pic. Young Marge's outfit is pretty adorable, very true, I wish I could take credit...but it's from the flashback scenes in the ep "The Way We Weren't" (as is young Homer).

Yeah, the Simpsons has done some pretty out-there storylines in its time, but their insistence on effectively hitting the cosmic reset button at the end of every episode means that they miss out on doing some other really cool things, like building better believable relationships between characters, and allowing Bart and Lisa and Maggie to mature. If they did, they could have more rom-com eps with Bart and the twin he likes, or a love triangle between Lisa, Nelson and I dunno maybe...Martin.

They could even have just set a spin-off when Homer and Marge were kids, and had a different (but probably a little similar) set of characters - as well as having some established favourite characters when they were younger.

The possibilities are endless. But alas, they want to retain the status quo, so almost all possible story-arc ideas (both obvious ones, like having the family just growing up, or less obvious ones, like the kids going back to Springfield in the 60s) get avoided.

Well, I think we all know now why Marge calls Bart her "special little guy".

Despite the obvious incest, I always thought that Bart/Marge (and Marge/Lisa) could actually work. Could be one of those scenarios where Bart discovers to his horror that the reason why none of his relationships throughout the series ever worked out was because... none of those girls were anything like his milf! Lol.

Look more closely, the whole scene is deliberately messed up. Homer and Marge are the same ages as Bart and Lisa, respectively, and kissing their children.
This would be what is called a paradox, when things go seriously screwy with time.

Yep, hence the "messed up" in the title. Due to some weird time travel, they met and accidentally fell in love with their parents when their parents were the same age as they are.

I commissioned a whole story around this picture, I might put it up sometime (though it may have to be censored due to one or two scenes...or just hosted offsite).
