Bruce dawned the leather bat cowl he's dawned more than once since he was a young man. It was his usual routine. Dress as a vigilante in black with bat ears just as the sun was setting, patrol the seedy streets and highrises of Gotham, bust the skulls of minor to major league criminals and go home. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But today was different. Today as he went to the balcony of Wayne Manor to make his usual exit he was greeted by a familiar red cape and baby blue eyes. It was Superman, also known as the mild mannered reporter Clark Kent, and he was floating in mid air before Batman with a bouquet of pink carnations wrapped in a snow white wrapping paper and tied firmly with a pink ribbon.

Everyone knew that the World's Finest were also a fine couple. But of course only their best friends among the League and their civilian lives knew about this. And bless Clark's heart he did every traditional form of wooing he was ever taught; flowers, chocolates and little presents. Most people couldn't tell but Bruce appreciated these gestures more than anything. After being around fake people who give him meaningless extravagant presents for so long, having someone give him meaningful little presents was a refreshing change.

However the Caped Crusader still had a duty to perform and couldn't let himself get distracted. So he politely told Clark that he has to be on his way to patrol. The Man of Steel merely grinned and said that his proteges had it all covered. Tonight it was all about them. Batman found the notion endearing but insisted that he should at least go and patrol. But Superman wouldn't hear any of it and tenderly took his lover in his arms, a few petals from the carnations flying in the wind, and proceeded to whisk him away. While Batman acted like he was peeved about it he actually couldn't be any happier.
