Backstory:

Beginning: Ophelia was born in the Changeling Empire, years after the changeling's reformation. Her parents instantly fell in love during Lia's father's trip to the Crystal Empire for the Crystal Fair. After years of love they Got married. After Crystal Shine discovered she was pregnant with Lia, Othimus asked for her to be born and raised in the Changeling Empire. Her mother agreed and they moved to the Changeling Empire. A few months later, Ophelia was born. She was half Changeling, half Pony. Although, this was not uncommon since after the Reformation, many half changelings were born. Her Father knew she would be half Changeling and therefor wanted his daughter to experience being a changeling, to keep her connected to half of her culture.

Childhood: Lia grew up to be a Giddy child. She enjoyed playing with the other Changeling children and exploring the large kingdom. Although, Lia had never been to a school due to the Changeling Kingdom not having any. They believed that the Changelings could learn from life experiences and therefor school was useless. As much as Lia's mother loved the simple life of the Changeling Empire, she wanted her daughter to grow up well-educated and to have a social life outside of the Changelings. When Ophelia was 7 (Human years) , her family moved back to the Crystal Empire to provide Lia with school-life.

School: On the first day of school, Lia was terrified. All she had ever known was playing with other changelings. She had never been in contact with any other species besides her pony mother. She didn't know what to expect. However, her mother assured her that it would be okay. Ophelia packed her saddle-bags and trotted to her first day of school. She walked in to see the classroom bustling with energy. Crystal ponies running around, colouring, reading and playing. She slowly walked to an empty table and sat down alone, unsure on what to do or who to talk to. She pulled out her favorite book from the Changeling Empire and began to read alone. After a few minutes, the whole classroom fell silent. Lia glanced up to see a tall crystal unicorn trotting up to the desk. She soon realized this would be her teacher. She put her book away, watching the class find a seat and sitting down. Eventually everypony was seated, yet nobody sat on Lia's table. The teacher began to teach science to the class. Although Lia was struggling she managed to barely keep up to the rest of the class. After 2 hours of learning, the doors to the school burst open, with a small pony shouting. Ophelia jolted her head up in shock, listening to the small pony ramble on at the door explaining why she was late. The teacher seemed annoyed at her excuses and dismissed the pony, instructing her to take a seat. Instead of sitting with the other pony's, the small child trotted over to Lia's table. Slumping down and placing her head on the desk, sighing in relief. However, she quickly glanced up to notice Ophelia looking at her. After a small conversation, They exchanged names. Golden Bell would be Ophelia's first friend in the Empire.

Friendships: Lia slowly got closer and closer to Bell, eventually they were inseperable. They both loved running around the empire. Golden Bell was a simple earth-crystal pony who lived on a farm in the Empire. Her family grew foods such as crystal berries and herded Crystal Pygmy Sheep. Which they used to set up petting stations for them at Annual Crystal Fairs along with selling their harvests there too. Bell was an energetic, bubbly and sometimes stubborn filly with golden yellow coat and dark gold mane.

Growing up: Lia grew up in the Empire, eventually getting used to the culture and different lifestyle compared to what she had once known in the Changeling empire. Bell stuck at her side the whole time. Although Half-Changelings weren't uncommon, she was the only one in her area of the Crystal Empire, which made her feel different and ostracized from her peers. The only pony to ever want to speak to Lia was Bell.
