Description just a shading test i did to see where my shading skills were at
as you can see, 1st an mspaint doodle, then shaded/textured in gimp, then removed lines completely and touched it up c:

The progression between each touch up is outstanding Especially the last one, it has a nice paint like texture to it You should try a full image with this style coz I think it would look awesome

All you need to do for the last one is Soften it or put slightly darker lines around the edges. :3
