Black holes pull in gravity, which would mean that it sucks things in to keep it from escaping. :m

Well duh, but you can safely orbit a black hole so long as you don't venture too close to the Event Horizon (the point of no return). Trust me when I say that I've done extensive research on black holes both out of curiosity as well as for a essay assignment in college.
