Description
I was playing around with the ideas of the softness and darkness contrast in my work and I realised that there was no better place to explore this than the myth of Persephone and Hades, the former of which particularly inhabits both qualities. I sketched my thumbnail before reading up on the mythology proper and I was rather dismayed – and pleased – to find my interpretation turned it slightly on its head. I didn’t want to portray the abduction or Persephone sitting in Hades' lap. I wanted to show her worshipped in his own kingdom. Him falling on his knees before her as she tears into the pomegranates greedily, sitting upon her throne of gnarled dead trees, herself a contrast of life in a desolate place.
Anyway, that’s all very dramatic. What would your interpretation of the myth be?

I really like the composition and the concept works thematically. I'm seriously drawn to this work but Persephone has a *necro-noir* feel to her that detracts from the counter balancing feel that Hades gives the work. Spring is about life and rebirth. Your
Persephone is dead and decaying. Again I really like it: the rain of flower petals invokes cherry blossems, Persephone's clothing invokes the sense of new growth, the pomegranate invokes fertility (the juice however looks like blood and does not work) you have poured in all kinds of symbolic elements that are describing an interesting theme, but Persephone has a face and skin that reminds me of the dead of winter. Thanks for sharing and know I'll be look forward to your next post.

The blood-like juice was entirely purposeful and so was her look. I took a very personal and perhaps a more abstracted look at the themes and made them very much my own, so I don't blame you for not picking up on them all, but everything here was done with intent, even if you don't personally resonate with it, that's okay - it's very interesting to hear what others draw from it tho!
