I used to do a lot of digital dolls 12 years ago, it was so fun to not have to make your own bases, the only reason I enjoyed digital Dolls so much is taht it was like playing dress up. open photoshop and draw on clothes.
nowadays they arent as popular, but the bases have changed dramatically!
Don't let ppl who dont understand what digital dolls were and are get you down, these bases are fantastic!

'quick draw your original character in the most generic, talentless, lazy way possible, ITS A MEME!' i dont understand how you idiots think that its 'fun' to use a trace of another person's hard work to create something you (according to you) can just draw your damn selves without help. your not referencing the posing or style, your completely walking all over people who take the time to draw their own art and figures.
why should i 'settle down' when there is nothing that is remotely artistic to scribble over a trace of another person's work, if you like the style, practice the style, if you like the pose reference it. there is no reason that bases should be a thing on an art site. tracing is ok for learning purposes but /not/ for posting on a website like DA.

I'm not saying that bases are a meme. If you wanna fight this report then to Deviant Art yourse;f than rather complain to this girl because that seriously isn't getting you anywhere except being a troll. So bases have a link that reverts you to the original picture. I would say that this one is hard to find with the link she sent so its hard to show the original. There are far worse than bases though. Many people here copy and sumbit things they didn't draw or take a photo of.
If you want to take action then do something about it. Or just be another damn troll and complain and get no where.

you do know that reporting does nothing on DA right? they only take it into account if more than one person reports and after that it can take up to 3 years for them to get to your report.
you said, 'people use them like a meme' so--how is that not saying bases are a meme? making a valid point is also not being a troll, i know you people here on DA think that anyone who makes you upset is a troll but that's not what one is.
also yes that's true, in my opinion all these things, bases/tracing/ect is all art theft of some form and is therefore the same amount of awful.

Actually to say one more thing... I know someone who makes their own bases for people to use. [link] Now they may not be people but she drew them for people to color and add things.
I do get your point on how these bases of people are drawn using another image to copy the pose. I would make bases for people to use. I also think that I guess links to the original work to show credit. This base is an example because its not a direct link... and also most don't have links to the original.
I'm sorry to cause you any trouble I had to think it over myself for a bit. I don't know much about these "bases" yet I always wondered why people like them so much.

i don't mind people who make completely original bases and give permission for people to use them, but i don't think that the people who use bases should be on this site.. (as someone who actually really loves to draw it annoys me that some can't be bothered to put in the effort to be responsible for every piece of the work they do)
from my experience people who use bases use them as an excuse to not practice to become better artists, they use others' work with a different hairstyle and an outfit and then they get upset when you call them out on it because 'but i cant draw that good!' which is obviously dumb since they are on a website community for /artists/, if they cant draw and don't want to put in the effort they should write or do photography or something, not that they would be good at those without practice, but at least they can't 'sort of' plagiarize writing and photos and then explain it away to the point that people might think its ok. because its not.
