In the 'Moniae Marsh' ark of 'The Worldmenders' Saga', we have a trio of characters to work with:- the Oni maiden, Chixa Ma;
- a human woman, Valeria; and
- a man both women fell in love with, Sir Reed.
The two women are on opposite scales. Wher Chixa Ma is tall, curvy and strong, but incredibly shy around others due to having less-than-fair features as a child, Valeria is a petite woman born into nobility, but who is manipulative and spiteful. While Valeria was Sir Reed's sponsor as an artist, she wanted the man for herself and found the idea of Chixa Ma having a relationship with him to be absurd. To make sure that the two would remain separate, Valeria had Sir Reed drafted... only for him to become a deserter and be hunted down. Returning to Chixa Ma's home, she lied to her about Reed's death, which caused the heartbroken Oni to grow mad with grief.
That is... if the past remains the same.
