The true Big Bad of the "Upon a Star" series, Merit was once two men - a father named Moloch and a son named Raleigh - whose disrespect of life led to creating "Project Monarch" intended on creating super-soldiers from kidnapped children, both having sights on owning the world through manipulation and corruption.

Merit - like a parasite - leeched the power from the tree whose fruits turned the survivors of the Old World into the Planars, making himself a god-like figure... only for the battle between him and them to be erased from memories after Panyus erected a barrier to ensure that the ongoing war between Merit and the Anarch would not disturb Medierth.

Only... the fall of the Planars and Melothios' constant attacks on the world weakened the barrier to the point where both Merit and the Anarch's forces broke through... leading to Medierth's final moments as their war devastated the world.
