Description
Normally, I'm not one to draw my characters showing negative expressions (anger, sadness, fear...) unless I feel like it, but this time, I wanted to push the envelope a bit.

For Alex's story, I wanted Merka to be a bit like Grune from 'Tales of Legendia': unassuming at first, but with a massive reveal (which I won't spoil).

The reference I used for the pose had the character wear boxing gloves, so I had to improvise with drawing hands. The front one looked too big, so I cropped the picture for it.

Here's a scene I have in mind for this:
(The group is being chased by Outcriers.)
Rhea: This is bad... we're outnumbered.
Alex: We need to get out of here!
Merka: Alex, get on Rhea's back. You two, head back to town!
Rhea: Merka?
Merka: I'll cover you! Now go!
(As Rhea and Alex escape, the Outcriers reach Merka's position.)
Outcrier Squad Leader: Don't let them get away!
(As the soldiers try to run past Merka, a Mana-barrier juts out of nowhere, shocking the soldiers who crashed into it.)
Outcrier Squad Leader: What the hell?
(Merka closes her eyes): Hell... from what I learned, that's 'punishment after a sinful life', isn't it? I don't know what's more sinful: you torturing non-Humans, or you hoping to capture a child.
(The Squad Leader pulls out his sword, while Merka's hands flare up with magic flames)
Outcrier Squad Leader: I'll enjoy taking your life, she-elf!
(Merka takes the stance in this picture): I tried to be nice. But you don't deserve your second chance. (Opens her eyes) It's time... Time to get serious..."
