aww look he likes you!!And for those of you who don't know this was a project for their class, so it's not completely touched to it's best. And yes, i know his hand looks like shit, and yes, it bothers me too. haha. But i just left how it was because i'm a lazy ass lol and i did try but it came out looking even more fake then it already is. =/ oh well. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE

Art can be anything... from a child's scribble to a grand masterpiece made by renowned artists. What makes this image ART is the time and effort put into it... The actual attempt at emotion in the subjects' eyes and positions. It doesn't have to be perfect to be art. It just has to be something that came from even the smallest bit of effort or thought.

I find it undeserved. I know plenty of artists here on dA who put much more effort into their work. Their pictures are breath-taking and makes you proud to say that it is art. This is why awesome work is rare to find on dA. 'silly' is greater that 'simply beautiful'.
So, if you say this is art... Why won't you post a pic of someone (or yourself) looking silly? Add some colors and et voilΓ , you got art.
I'm fine if this guy finds it art, maybe he can express his feelings with this or so... But is this image more worth or something?

You're saying this is work that took many hours, concentration, days and mabye weeks of thinking how to compose, think about the colors, think about inspiration, think about the message you want to send with it?

Well then, now that that's settled I have to disagree with you that this isn't art.
I think you just don't like the subject matter - you can't look past that and so you deem it not to be art. Well, that's rather close-minded, no?

I dislike so many things,
i hate many musicgenres but I dont say it isnt music.

This is art not only because of the effort put into the makeup, setup, and photography, but the result that the effort produced.
The realism and the "scary" or awed feeling an observer may get is part of what makes it a piece of art.
Zombie makeup is hard to make realistic- I've tried it. It takes more than ten minutes to do a good job- heck, I took two hours.
Outside of the makeup, the photography itself is art, as it is not just some "MySpace" photo or random snapshot. Not only that, but the expressions of the people are part of what makes it great. As you said yourself, music is music whethere you dislike the genre or not- this picture is just another genre of art- it is still a photo with the purpose or intent to be art in the first place.

Thank you guys for backing my art up. And drift angel, if you don't think it's art, then to you it's not. It's you're opinion and I respect that. But I really don't want a little comment war on here. I do enjoy a crit once in awhile.
oh and by the way- the make-up took 2 hours for 3 people. these are just 2 out of the 3 i did.

This is really great. I have to say though that the fact that the zombie doesn't have a real grip in the victim kinda brought it down a bit for me, but this is still an amazing scene. Better than anything I could ever do in my life. Well done.
btw, I get the feeling I'm going to have nightmares about the eyes. Again, well done.

I really do like this picture, but there are a few little things that bother me.
I think if it looked a bit more natural (less digital manipulation), it would round up the photo just nice.
