Description
Balladrine is a small village located about ten miles north west of Kellsthorpe and about five miles south east of Killdane. Following being deprived of his office as Bishop of Suddery, Lancelot Qualtrough lived in retirement in Balladrine, ostensibly as Curate of the small parish, but in reality was treated by all as Bishop in everything but name. In 1954, Gordon and Henry met Bluebell the cow on a nearby bridge which carries the railway over the Balladrine/Killaban road.I made that Dryaw building model, in case you're wondering who built that.

Balladrine is perhaps the most troubled station on the NWR. Not only was it threatened with closure several times between 1956 and 1981, it also happens to have the most awkward arrangement, requiring Down stopping trains to use a crossover to access the station. Originally, the station was not in the cards, as the NWR planned for passengers to go to the nearest railhead (either at Killdane or Kellsthorpe Road), but local road conditions forced the North Western Railway's hand, and an infill station was built in 1918.
