Alright okay we got some worldbuilding here, this is called wrist tapping

wrist tapping- Basically the Jakota handshake. When tapping, two individuals prop their vents (where the magic comes out) up to eachother, and send one another a pulse. This gives a person a read on the other's strength. Much like a handshake, it can be friendly, submissive, or oppressive, depending on the individual. Currently, illian is stronger than azoth. Him offering their wrist first means they've lowered their guard, and therefore trusts Azoth. It's a friendly gesture!
