Frisk sat in their room, suddenly having thoughts about Papyrus and Sans. A series of images appeared in their head. They sat there, deep in thought.
Papyrus always wore gloves, even in summer. And Sans would do anything to keep his right hand hidden, normally in his pocket of his jacket or sweaters, or with gloves or mittens.
Frisk realized that Papyrus and Sans were currently napping on the couch together. They went down, thinking that they could uncover some secrets.
They got down, and sure enough, Papyrus and Sans were fast asleep on the sofa on top of each other. Frisk thought it looked kind of uncomfortable. They shrugged it off and stuck to the reason they were there.
They carefully took Papyrus by his arm and pulled off the glove on his right hand. Drilled into his hand, a metal, rectangular plate. It had letters on it, seeming to be initials. WDG 2-P.
Frisk looked at it for a few seconds, confused.
They pulled Sans’ right hand out of his pocket. A similar handplate was drilled into his hand, too. But this time, it read 1-S instead of 2-P.
Frisk stood behind the couch, utterly confused.
“WHAT??! YOU SAW OUR HANDPLATES?!?” Papyrus exclaimed, bright orange blush spreading across his face, and his eyes glowing bright pink. Sans stood not too far away, having spit out his drink out of being surprised. Frisk nodded.
“Human, those are private!! How did you even see them? My defenses were impregnable! How did you do such a thing?!” Papyrus asked frantically.
Frisk ignored the question, and signaled to ask if it was just a skeleton thing.
Papyrus’ blush faded just a little bit. “No, they’re not a skeleton thing..! Or a monster thing.. They’re.. Ugh!” he exclaimed, slapping a hand to his face, robbed of words to say. Sans came up in front of Frisk, a light blue blush spread across the top of his nose.
He rubbed the ketchup that was dripping from his mouth after spitting it out. “Jeez, kid, you’re not real good at privacy, are you? We got our reasons for keeping ‘em to ourselves.” Papyrus chimed in. “Yes! Very good, complex, incontrovertible reasons!! T-that anyone could understand!”
“Like what?” Frisk signed.
“Like what? Uh..” Papyrus responded, thinking of a response. “I just don’t like looking at it, that’s why!” he said, averting his eyes. “It just makes me feel like…”
“I’m… Forgetting something. Something… Important,” Papyrus said slowly and quietly.
Sans put an arm on his back, his left eye glowing a light blue aura. “Meh, some things are better off forgotten. But not that spaghetti, huh? How’s it comin’ along?” Sans asked.
Papyrus realized that he was in fact cooking at the moment. “Oh, right! I need to turn the heat up!”

i mean, probably not, since nobody can remember a guy who was shattered across time and space. the only thing anybody has left of gaster is vague feelings and memories, same with sans

makes sense, but... I feel like Sans has more than just a vague feeling. He was hit with the lazer more often that Papy, and the emotional scarring probably goes much much deeper than it does with Paps too. While Papyrus was hurt more often, due to Sans's disobedience, the sight of his brother being hurt without much regard on Gaster's end hurt more that the actual damage inflicted.

In the game, Sans makes several remarks that could have some understanding of the Saving mechanism, the Resets, and other things of that nature. He even knew about Flowey, when he seemingly talks about the Echo Flowers with you at Grillby's.
This is like a 6th sense he has, a general understanding that he is in a video game. Since he understands more about the video game, he knows more about people being deleted, meaning that he has some vague clue about who Gaster was and what he did.
