Well, Papyrus gets the hang of it when it comes to Undyne. That's something at least.

the answer to asgore is....
ehhh, not really, no. papyrus tries, and he does make friends with people just as exuberant as he is, but i wouldn't say he ever masters the art of small talk.

Reminds me of myself an' my younger bro.
I don't talk much at first, but I listen in to the conversation and eventually come up with genuine and put together conversation.
My brother.... tries. Really he does, but he's not very good at making connections and speaks loudly and comes off a bit annoying.
I encourage others he's not all that bad tho.

Which one do you think is Papyrus? Sans' scarf is a pinkish red in the last couple panels. I highly doubt that I need my eyes checked.

First panels, Sans' scarf is purple. Then when Sans is talking about fire, it's orange.... either I'm color blind. Or they're changing color. (switching scarfs) And Papyrus' started off yellow and ended with a blue-ish grey

Yes, technically they were always speaking English, but the typeface was windings, and thus completely unreadable to the people who haven't learnt it by now.
(Sidenote: I don't know how speech works in undertale, but it is often treated as if characters will talk by generating a text box and creating dialogue in those)

awweee, poor Papyrus... See, this is where the autistic Papyrus headcannon comes into play because that is the exact display of tons of autistic people's experience with finding friends.

Okay, this is super late but I could kind of picture it for both of them?
With Sans being the one that constantly masks and pretends to be normal butt hat can't form any/many genuine connections because he's pretty much acting the entire time?
The people watching before participating would hint towards it as well, it's an exceedingly common thing with autistic girls that they watch others and then copy from them in order to seem normal.
Masking is also exhausting (as it's basically acting all the time you're with people) so that might explain some of his attitude?
And in Undertale itself, does he really have many friends?
I mean, Grillby could count (or not since Sans may mostly be a regular guest) but others seem to kind of know him as an acquaintance at best which would go with the whole putting on an act to pass as normal but being unable to make friends.
EDIT: Also the way he tries to approach things from a logical perspective but is still deeply affected by them all.
This might just be because that does hit too close to home for me but I think it might at least not be uncommon for Autistic people?

Can I have a link?
I'm probably autistic myself (waiting for an assessment) and I found out through writing fiction and researching autism for a character.
Which, actually, I have a completed script including an autistic character so if you want to we could trade links?

Well, it's an original story and kind of a comic script?
Really, just leave it if you don't want to, I just heard that it wasn't bad and thought maybe you'd be interested (and didn't want to wait a long time for the comic...if you're interested, sorry for presuming).
Though, admittedly, I may simply be a bit too overexcited about it since I'll be starting it soon and I can't shut up about it.
So, here's the link, don't bother with the questions if you don't want to, it's something I wrote for the beta readers.
(I'd be interested in your opinion as an autistic writer, but I wouldn't want to draft you into doing anything you don't want, especially not like this, please don't feel obligated to answer them.)
(As I said, I may be overexcited.)

I'll check it out, thanks.

Hah, thanks, honestly, I just wrote to you because I'm excited about autistic characters without any other intentions.
Then I heard that you written about have autistic characters and OH, wait, autistic characters included mine!
Hey, I have them as well? Wanna see?
Oh...wait, right what I have this script...that I'm kinda working on for a comic...oops.
So, do tell about your plushies.
And yea, almost definitely an autistic thing XD
Though I'm sad to hear that you had to deal with pushy people, I personally try to to approach people about it (try being the operative) if they don't directly say they're interested since I consider it somewhat intrusive, it's hard to imagine someone would be so rude as to actually pressure people into reading it.
