This has been building for a while, it was bound to break eventually. Sans’s insecurities here are all things that have either been not-so-subtly implied to him (like here , here , here , here , or here ) or outright said to his face , and he’s also still haunted by how he was used to try and get Papyrus to kill something and how his most recent attempt to protect him ended in total failure . It wears on you. Papyrus has known about his "condition" since they were babybones but had no idea how deep his feelings about it ran.

Papyrus has indeed had a scar on his neck since he had that neck brace . It may be hard to see at points but it’s there! He still has it in the future , even. And Sans did indeed tell Papyrus not to let Gaster get to him , haha. LOT OF BACKLINKS THIS ROUND
Sans is glowing a little bit of Papyrus's color there.

Papyrus may not be the smartest brains-wise, and Sans may not be the strongest health-wise, but out of all the monsters, I'd say they're probably the hardest ones to kill. Paps because he gets emotions, and he never gives up, which makes it so hard to fail him. Sans because gosh dingus stop dodging you little jerk. Also because it hurts to prove him right.

With the panel right before the last one where papy says they would prove stuff to gaster one day, it's really sad because even though papyrus does puzzles and stuff in the game and sans can beat you in the genocide run hundreds of times over, sans is the only one that really proved himself because papyrus still has difficulty with things like the jumble, and sans can do them easily ;^; god why is so sad(comic with geno run and sans pointing this out maybe idk?)

Naaahhh. I disagree. There are different types of intellence. And Papyrus, is the smartest when it comes to believing in the good in everyone whole heartedly not to mention have confidence and dreams.
I don't know ANYONE that is perfectly confident, that knows what they wish to do, AND have so much faith in one's heart.

Papyrus is shown to be very smart and tough. Undyne comments on how strong he is, and Papyrus enjoys reading books like "complicated puzzle making". He overthinks things, probably because of his insecurities, which is why he mentions he has difficulty with Junior Jumble and solving the horoscope. If he didn't think things over a million times, he'd be very smart. He's just naive and a bit dumb in a few senses, but he can understand the world greatly. It's also shown Papyrus loves to read and visits the library on occasion, as well as the huge BOOKSHELF in his room.
Sans is shown throughout the entire game to be lazy and worthless, which he enjoys being called out on, but it's revealed he's not actually lazy. He works multiple jobs, which we brush aside as comic relief, is the main provider of the household, (Sans pays for the house, which is why Papyrus says rents cheap. Sans doesn't even let him see the numbers.) and also takes care of his brother (emotionally. he's shown to be really cheeky in a Pacifist run, but when you start hurting Papyrus's feelings Sans rushes in to agree with Papyrus and try and make him happy, which in return probably puts him down a bit, as it's shown he loves being called lazy, and if Sans agrees with him, Papyrus compliments him)
Sans learned how to run past his own limitations, by cheating. If you aren't going to play fair, why should he? He dodges, takes away invincibility, and attacks your menu. Those are all cheats, however, I suppose KARMA is a special ability Sans has in the first place. He's literally destroying you by making you feel bad for what you did, by making you regret things. He's physically hurting you by making you feel bad. That takes skill, and it's very, very impressive.
Emotionally, as well, he's able to keep a smiling face (It's shown he can stop smiling, if only once in the game) through all of it. However, I suppose that's only in the face of you, as Sans disappears from the entire game (Not even the other NPC's know where he is), possibly feeling like garbage. I speculate he goes to Alphys after you fight Undyne and convinces her not to wait until you kill her as well, after all, Sans is only shown to have three friends, two of which you've already killed on a genocide run. Speculating here, I believe she only trusts him and agrees to hide out when Undyne makes the phone call to her telling her that you're literally a sociopath. As well as watching everyone die.
Sans is able to keep a smiling face on a neutral run where you kill Papyrus, if emotionally damaged. He's still able to judge you without beating your ass, that too takes skill. I don't know what I'd do if a loved one was killed by some ruthless murderer and I had to be NICE to them. (Sans is sort of nice, excluding genocide, if you kill Papyrus. Other than making you feel guilty, but I assume since that's not in battle it doesn't count as karma)
Venturing back to Papyrus, he's also shown to trick Undyne into befriending you and teases Undyne about her crush on Alphys, showing he knows a lot more than he lets on. Don't let the childishness fool you.
Sans is the strongest monster in the underground, and Papyrus is the smartest.

I feel the same like Sans and Papyrus. I am really bad at stuff and my sister is good at everything. Sometimes I feel like Im weighing her down, and that I shouldn't exist. You hit me in the feelings.
