It's great seeing Sans as an awesome older brother. I feel a kind of pride when he turns out to be a responsible older sibling.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Well, Sans could just be Lethargic because he's just lazy but depressed is a whole different matter (possibly because of the Ness theory).

As a person with depression, I feel compelled to put my two cents in on that. After playing the game for more hours than I care to admit, I could say that sans does show some of the typical signs of being depressed.
Lethargic (sleeping all the time/'lazy')
lacking motivation (papyrus remarks throughout how sans never does anything)
Lack of effort at simple tasks (the snow mound next to papyrus' snow..skeleton.)
not believing in ones self ("I would have given up long ago")
feelings of inadequacy or feeling like it's not worth it. ("just give up. I did.")
not saying that was most definitely, absolutely Toby fox' intentions, as only he knows. I'm just calling em as I see em.
